Step 1: Define the Problem

The first step in troubleshooting the Press Machine is to identify or locate the problem present
in the equipment. In this way, as an engineer, you will know what task you need to be done.

Step 2: Consult the Schematic

Before taking any action, it is also important to check the schematic diagram of the press
machine in order for you as an engineer to be familiarized with its system. Hence, you can plan ahead on
how you will tackle the troubleshooting.

Step 3: List Suspect Components

It is also vital to list the suspected or the faulty components that causing problem in the press
machine. Listing these faulty components helps you to have idea what kind of approach you need to
perform in troubleshooting the press machine.

Step 4: Isolate Sub-Circuits

This step involves isolating certain parts of the equipment to provide barrier that can prevent
dangerous voltages that can harm the equipment. However, this step does not always apply to all
hydraulic circuits since some of them do not have subcircuits that can be isolated.

Step 5: Determine Order of Checking

Laying an outline before troubleshooting is crucial for every engineer. Although, the problems to
be checked have been identified, it is also a must for every engineer to create a list of what to be done
first in troubleshooting the press machine.

Step 6: Physical Observation

Physical observation is also an important part in troubleshooting because it helps engineers to

visually locate any problem in the equipment without taking the system apart.

Step 7: Test Components

After you plan and have an outline to do the work, now you will need to test the component in
order to know if there is problem present in it with the use of testing tools like multimeter and etc.

Step 8: Repair and Replace

Since you’ve already identified the problem and have already test the components, what you
need to do now is to rectify and if ever replace the faulty component in order for the equipment to
function safer and better.

Step 9: Verify!

After replacing or rectifying the faulty component in the press machine, now you will need to
verify if it is working well and the problem has disappeared. Ensure that you test it again to distinguish
that there is no problem occurring after you troubleshoot the equipment.

Step 10: Why Did it Happen

After that you’ve done the troubleshooting, it is also important to look back on what you did
after troubleshooting the press machine, in this way, you can review what you have performed on the
equipment and give you important knowledge which can help you in future troubleshooting.
