Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

- To have all students engaged

- Students being able to understand the lesson
- Students create an accurate portrait of themselves

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

- I understand how to create a self portrait

- I know what to use to create a self portrait
- I understand why my self-portrait won’t be the same as others

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

First, I introduced Pip the pup, then I told them what the story is called. Then I carefully read
the story aloud so everyone can hear. While doing that I showed them the pictures that
followed the storyline. After that I ask them questions from the passages in the storybook.
Students raise a quiet hand to answer the questions being asked. Then students will pick a
skin color crayon of their choosing. Lastly, they will create their self-portraits with crayons and
sharpies.
CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching
of this lesson plan.)

- RL.K3 With promoting and support, ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
- Students follow agreed-upon rules for discussions and continue a conversation through
multiple exchanges.
- With prompting and support, students identify the main topic and retell key details of a text.

lesson.)

- I will have experiential learning to further their understanding
- Interactive Instruction by having discussions on the topic

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

I will get students engaged by asking them questions to ensure their understanding.

• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?
I will ask them if they're all using their listening ears and paying attention to the story.

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

I will close out the lesson by asking them if they had fun making their self-
portraits.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will assess if they achieved everything, by seeing all the portraits created to the best
ability.
