Lesson Plan Project

Lesson Goals or Learning Targets (Word these as measurable student outcomes.)

Students will be able to organize letters in alphabetical order.

Students will be able to cut out strips of paper.
Students will be able to neatly color within worksheet drawing.

Lesson Objectives or Success Criteria (Word these as student actions, use verbs.)

Students will write names on the paper that will not be cut. Students will grab their scissors
from their boxes to cut out the paper strips. Students will arrange their paper strips in
alphabetical order. Once students get the order correct, students will glue down pieces in
order. Students will then color in the worksheet with a minimum of 3 colors.

Lesson Plan Content (Written narrative paragraph about the lesson content.)

First, I will allow the students to talk to each other while I set up the classroom for the lesson.
Next, I will bring their attention to the board using their bell. After, I will introduce the
worksheet to the students and instruct them to write their name. To continue I will ask them to
pull out their scissors and cut out their paper strips. Next, I will be asking them to place them
in order but NOT glue them down yet. Once I walk around the room to make sure they're in
the correct order they will be instructed to glue down each piece. After they have glued, I will
instruct them to color in the paper with a minimum of 3 colors. Once all students have finished
coloring, they will turn in their final work into their bucket. Lastly, they will be cleaning up all
the supplies used along with scraps of paper left over.
CCSS Rationale (Describe the specific Common Core State Standards addressed during the teaching

analysis skills in decoding words both in isolation and in text. a. Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-

Instructional Procedures

• Focusing Event (Describe how you will get students to focus attention on your teaching.)

I will be using their daily attention grabber, which is a bell, to capture their attention.

• Instructional Strategies (Describe each of the instructional methods you will employ during the
lesson.)

During the entire duration of the lesson plan, I will be using a direct instructional
method.

• Student Participation (How will you engage students and get them on board to participate?)

Before starting the lesson plan, I will be getting them on board by allowing them to talk
to each other for at least two minutes before commencing.

• Formative Check (How will you check that all students are involved and engaged in the lesson?

In order to check the progress a student is making during the lesson plan I will be
checking in after every instruction I give. If a student is engaged and working well, I
can reward them with their “sand dollars”.

• Closure (How will you end the lesson purposefully, with intentionality?)

To close off the lesson students will be cleaning up their supplies and turning in their
paper to the correct spot.

• Assessment (How will you assess that students achieved the lesson goals or learning targets?)

I will be assessing the students achievement by asking them to describe the final
picture to me.
