I. Objectives: At the end of 1-hour discussion, 80% of the students are able to:

a. Identify the difference between Proper nouns and Common Nouns;

b. Recognize the importance of Proper and Common nouns in everyday
conversation; and
c. Execute a group activity called Scategories.

One morning, Scott woke up late and he had to hurry to get ready
for school. His school, Westlake Elementary School was about 10
minutes away from his house. He picked his library book, Charlotte
Web, and tucked it into his soccer uniform. He had to practice with the
Red Devils,his soccer team after school. In the bathroom, he ran a comb
through his hair and brushed his teeth with Minty Max toothpaste. There
was only time for a few bites of his favorite cereal, Captain Crunches.
He ran to the car with his mom and they drove to school. Standing
there waiting for him was his bestfriend, Peter.They both hurried to Mrs.
Anderson’s classroom and sat down their seats as the tardy bell rang.

Proper noun are the names of specific person,things place,animals
and events. It always starts with capital letter.

Common noun is a name of person, place,animals, things and ideas.

They are not capitalized unless they come at the beginning of the
sentence.
