Translating is an amazing feat. Translators come in all shapes and sizes. Some are 1______,
adhering to the 'letter of the law', while minimising any deviations from the norm. I fall
somewhere in 2______. I have endeavoured to comply with the source text, while paying
particular attention to its translatability in terms of lexis, idiomatic expressions, collocations, and
so forth. Two languages different as chalk and cheese make a terrific translation if one 3______
bothers to ponder. Translating the source book has not been an easy task; yet, the fact that I am,
more or less, conversant with this genre has enabled me to 4______ upon my subject as well as
my world knowledge, in an attempt to enhance my cause. Of course, this does not detract from
the merit of the present treatise. The author has put his heart and soul 5______ the pages that
follow, and what I can 6______ for is that readers will be ushered into another dimension, where
reality is an unalloyed commodity.

Translating the book has been a highly rewarding experience as a translator and a reader,
7______. While reading it, I plunged into the abyss of my own intellectual peregrinations:
metaphysics, alternative medicine, eastern civilisations and religions, philosophy, crytozoology,
conspiracy theories, and so forth. Reminiscent of Plato's dialogues and suffused with thought-
provoking notions, the book holds up a 8______ to a universe long distorted and interfered with.
Irrespective of one's beliefs, this book is bound to stir up a hornet's 9_____. Taking a stab at
religion as yet another social construct, it manages to deal a blow at the heart of all human
myths, 10______ an alternative worldview.

Back in the early 2000s, when podcasting first took off, investors didn’t believe that it would be
that 1______ a form of entertainment compared to what already existed in the market. How
wrong they were! A quick online search for podcasts nowadays will reveal an industry that is
still 2______ strong and which generates vast profits. There are around 2,000 3______ released
each week, covering a range of topics that would 4______ anyone’s mind in terms of its
diversity. So, it’s clear that podcasting is thriving and very much 5______ to stay.

The beauty of podcasts lies in two key areas. Firstly, they are largely inexpensive to produce,
and, secondly, very little technical expertise is 6______ to get started. And these factors mean
that they are able to 7______ audiences in a way that more traditional forms of entertainment
cannot. That’s not to say that all podcasts have small, like-minded groups of listeners – in fact,
far from it. According to recent research conducted by a consulting company, the most popular
podcasts can attract 8______ over a million listeners.
However, professionals working in the podcast industry have issued a word of 9______ for those
about to jump on the bandwagon: Analyse what’s on offer at the moment. Then, ensure that what

Is it better to be optimistic or pessimistic? While it may be impossible to remain optimistic in all
circumstances, it 1______ me that it’s better on balance to see life and people as inherently
benign, rather than the 2______ of devoting yourself to seeing the negative in everything, being
a 3______ of nerves at every opportunity in case something goes wrong and living in mortal
dread of 4______ risky situations and ventures. Isn’t it better sometimes to take a leap in the

employees’ 6______ for that better-paid position or prestigious promotion, and believe me,
however much the opportunity 7______ to the individual, their ability to recover from

What does your body language say about you? Are you even aware of it? We all have certain

appear quite aggressive and can be disconcerting for those around, which is not usually the

people will feel that this ______ their core identity and won’t want others to make sweeping

we present our bodies and faces is largely ______, we can make an effort to monitor how we

We all know that vegetables 4______ aren’t as rich in some of the essential nutrients as meat

the fruit and vegetables that are considered ‘superfoods’ are much easier to find these days, but
many argue that they aren’t 7______ super as to provide all the nutrients we need. As humans we

One of the strongest influences on teenagers today is that of their peers. What their friends think,

and their attitude to studies, to their ambitions in life, their relationships and their 6______ of
self-worth. However, as adolescents grow up into young adults, 7______ becomes more

The great Acharyas have said that having discovered a great goal, surrender yourself to that goal

The word choreography was first used in France in the 6th century. It was (1)_______ from the
Greek words which literally mean “dance-writing.” Choreography involves the art of designing
sequences of movements in which motion, form, or (2)___________ are specified.
The art of choreography dates back to very early times, when people first began to dance in
circles or spirals, or in lines (3)_______ intersections would gradually lead to more and more
complicated figures. There are records of very ancient organized dance, probably first
(4)___________ in India and then traveling west to the ancient Mediterranean regions.
The (5)______ in which choreography blossomed, however, was the Renaissance, during which
the social dances taught in the royal courts were gradually transformed into a (6)___________
dance performed on stage. In the two centuries that followed, the gap between social dance and
dance performed on stage widened until ballet in the 19th century achieved an essentially
(7)__________ vocabulary of movement.
Subsequently, (8)__________ modern dance introduced new elements of movement and
expression and emphasized more naturalistic styles than (9)__________ classical ballet. Since
then, (10)__________ forms have varied between the poles of representation and abstraction as
well as rehearsal and improvisation. Today, choreography continues to evolve rapidly, amplified
by the movie industry and theater.

From ancient times to the present, concrete has been the material from which our monuments

In the search for sustainability, a new building material is (4)__________ prominence. Cross-

each other, with a strong adhesive. The result is massive, strong beams, produced from trees
cultivated in managed (6)__________, which sequester carbon. It has advantages as a building
material including excellent insulating properties and an attractive appearance. What’s more,
units can be prefabricated in a factory, allowing for the construction process to be quick and
(7)__________ disruptive.
It is of comparable strength to steel reinforced concrete, which makes it equally suitable for
multi-story buildings and even (8)__________. It has been studied extensively due to concerns
about fire, and it was found that the (9)__________ layer chars, protecting the inner layers from
damage for an extended period of time. As a result, it is as safe as (10)__________ structures. In
