EDPM SBA 2015


Part 1 of 4

Students I need you read and understand what you will have to do. This is only the first part. Look out
for the actual parts to be sent on facebook or ensure you are at school 2pm on Thursday 16 June 2015
to collect the SBA parts.

The assignments should be completed by all students registered for CSEC EDPM Examination
and enrolled in a CXC Centre. They should be guided by their teacher but all students
should submit their own work.
4. Private candidates registered with the Ministry of Education are not required to do the
SBA but complete the Alternate Paper 3.
5. The EDPM SBA has two components
i. Reference Manual
ii. Three Production Assignments.

6. SBA assignment should be submitted in a folder with a cover page, table of content and
mark scheme. The reference manual and production assignments can be included in the
same folder.
7. Cover page should include

8. Random, unannounced checks of SBA will be made by CXC Officials and Ministry of
Education Official to ensure that students are producing their own work. Teachers should
therefore ensure that students are able to reproduce the work they present.

REFERENCE MANUAL

Each student will be required to prepare a personal file of reference information that should be a
specimen of each of the elements listed below. These should be attempted under the guidance of
the subject teacher and may be repeated until the desired standard is achieved.

Instruction for students


1. Each exercise must be labelled clearly to indicate what is being demonstrated, for
example, fully-blocked letter with open punctuation.
2. Each exercise should include the student’s name.
3. Specimens may be done in any order.
4. A table of contents and a title page must be prepared for the manual.
5. A bibliography listing the books, which the student used should be prepared.
A. Letters
i. A letter with a table
ii. A letter with enumeration
iii. A short letter done on A5 paper with an envelope
iv. A circular letter with a tear-off

B. Memoranda
Any type of memorandum

C. Tabular Work
i. An example of ruled tabulation with main heading and multiple columnar headings
ii. Ruled tabulation with oblique headings
D. Forms
i. Completion of an invoice or a statement
ii. Forms of application, for example, company loans OR club membership

E. Committee Documents
i. A notice of a meeting
ii. An agenda for a meeting
iii. A Chairman’s Agenda
iv. Minutes of a meeting

F. Manuscripts
An example of a manuscript with must show
- shoulder headings
- paragraph headings
- footnotes
G. Display

i. An invitation with a menu (a creative design should be used)


ii. A programme for an event
iii. A flow chart OR organisation chart

H. Literary Work

A play (or excerpt from) or Poem (this should be not exceed one page)

I. Legal Work

i. A Lease or Hire Purchase Agreement


ii. A Will

Recommended deadline for students to complete and submit Reference Manual is end of
Term1 in Form 5.
