EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Acme-Tech Ltd (henceforth termed as Acme) has the pleasure in presenting the following website design
proposal to meet the needs of KAG Sacco Limited (herein henceforth termed as Client) as currently
understood.

Acme is a local IT firm embracing the use of technology for the fulfilment of individual, corporate, social
and business needs. Acme strives to provide a comprehensive information systems consultancy that
enables clients to utilize information technology (IT) for efficiency.

I am a member of KAG Sacco, and there is nothing I would like more than to be part of this project, that will
help my sacco grow even more. For this reason, I will offer basic SEO services free, as an accompaniment
of the website design should I get the opportunity to develop it.

I therefore submit this website design proposal for your consideration to undertake this project.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
KAG Sacco Limited would like to design their website in order to better engage with their online
users (members, partners & affiliates), as well facilitate seamless registration process on the
site.

The core deliverable of this project will be a modern, responsive website for the client that will
enable the organization to create awareness, promote and share its strategic objectives and
services to its online community, as well as conduct registration of new members and properly
manage membership data. This proposal documents the technical and financial requirements to
deliver the desired product including an estimated timeline for the project. Features proposed
here are all subject to changes after more consultative discussions with the client.

The website will have one interface namely: -

1. Informational Interface – to display basic information about the organization. This will
include: -
a. Home page – showing various features including highlights of the company, social
media integration, key messages, properties & products, a site map and Newsletter
subscription.
b. About us – showing details about the organization, formation, objectives, mission,
vision, strategic values, the team.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The following will be the main focus areas throughout this project so as to deliver a cutting-edge
website for the organization: -
1. An engaging, mobile friendly design – Each page will be designed to be responsive &
adoptive to the screen size of the device viewing it. Articles will also have featured images
and video player capabilities automatically for utilization by content authors for creating
engaging content.

2. Social Media Integration – The client’s social pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok,
Youtube and others) and the website will be integrated to allow articles, images and other
multimedia be shared on the two platforms easily and seamlessly. This will promote site
visitors on the website and increase viewership of content.
3. Simplicity of design and access to content – The website will be created with simplicity of
design in mind. For instance, all content will be up to three clicks away, there will be no
long drop-down menus but secondary menus will be utilized to display content categories
and options.

4. Easy to Maintain & Content Management – The project will focus on meta data and content
taxonomy for all the content types for the website and will provide easy to access and
manage content.

5. Usability - The project will ensure the website is usable by all kinds of people by providing
a nice, clean and elegant theme.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Upon the commencement of the project, the team will conduct a thorough requirements
elicitation process that will document the functional and non-functional requirements.

NON-FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Search Engine Optimization.

We shall undertake SEO right from development stage through to postproduction roll out and
monitoring. The following activities makes us stand out when it comes to SEO:

• We write quality content using variations on your main keyword phrase. Each page focuses
on one specific topic, which naturally optimizes the page.
• Use of descriptive page and post titles.

• Use keywords in the anchor text when linking internally. Use keyword-rich anchor text in
your internal links to help the search engines understand what those pages are about.
• Write a descriptive alt tag for all images using your focus keyword phrase. Keywords rich
Alt tags help your page get better rankings.
• Create unique page titles using relevant keywords. Create different titles for each page or
post of your site using a specific keyword phrase.
• Control the content that shows up in the search engine results by writing quality
descriptions with a call to action for each page and post giving searchers a reason to visit
your site and increases click-through rates from the search engine results pages to your
website.
• Get communities views: encourage providing views on sites e.g. Facebook, Google+, twitter
or other directories) to boost your visibility.
2. User Experience Reporting through Google Analytics
We shall integrate the website with google analytics or any other kind of web analyser of the
client’s choice to ensure user experience reports are collected and presented.

3. Website Security
We will provide an effective SSL certificate to enhance the security of your domain. Your website
files and all subdomains will be well secured and safeguarded.

4. Web hosting Support services

We shall provide web hosting support including backup and restore of both database and code,
managing e-mail servers on the domain, provisioning and managing file storage accounts through
FTP as will be required by client, as well as providing direct support to the database and
application at runtime.

We shall ensure the website is functioning on optimum resources.

WEB TESTING
Website testing will be conducted on the proposed website. An authorized user account will also
be used to ensure among other things, that authentication, authorization, session handling, input
handling, and the application logic itself, is not vulnerable to attack.

The test will be conducted from both ‘black box’ and ‘white box’ perspective. This means that
testing will assess the applications vulnerability to both an anonymous attacker and an authorized
user.

The application testing will follow OWASP methodology and will include but not be limited to the
OWASP TOP 10.

Various testing techniques will be used. Acme will ensure no disruptive or destructive testing will
be undertaken. Acme will report on any application or service identified as susceptible to such
DOS attack.

Areas Of Testing

The following areas are assessed during the website penetration test:

• Authentication to ensure that only legitimate users gain access to the restricted parts of
the website.

• Access Control defines who has access to what. A thorough set of tests evaluates that
access to the functionality and information stored by the application is only available to
the intended users.

• Session Management keeps track of individual users in an environment with multiple

concurrent connections. Acme tests whether it is possible to hijack an active user session
and in turn gain unauthorized access to the application.

• Data Validation is the process, which ensures that un-trusted input data is sanitized before
it is processed by the application. Failure in this area may lead to issues such as Cross-Site
Scripting, SQL injection, among others. Acme methodology ensures that validation flaws
are detected systematically throughout all the application code space.

• Transport Security is necessary to preserve the confidentiality of sensitive information in

transit. Acme tests the configuration of the SSL service to ensure an appropriate level of
security is enforced during the transmission of confidential data.

• Business Logic is defined by the functional algorithms interfacing between the user and
the application. Acme identifies flaws, which may lead to privilege escalation, fraud, and
other malicious outcomes.

 • Supporting Infrastructure security is evaluated as part of the application testing
assessment. A secure application running on an insecure environment may have
devastating consequences. Acme assesses the security of the supporting infrastructure to
ensure that the whole solution is in line with industry best practices.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Acme’s software development follows robust methodologies in order to deliver thorough and
consistent results. Our methodologies draw from several established and documented
approaches as well as including ethical guidelines.

The successful implementation of the Project will be a result of a knowledgeable and dedicated
