    Butuanon unites through Indignation Rally, condemns atrocities caused by

    Butuan City ---- Various sectors of Butuan community unified through an Indignation Rally
    to condemn the atrocities caused by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the New
    Peoples’ Army (NPA), and National Democratic Front for the past 51 years, yesterday
    (December 26, 2019).

    Together with the 402nd Brigade, Philippine Army, led by Civil Military Operations
    Officer, MAJ FRANCISCO GARELLO, City Mayor’s Office Manager, Mr. Philip Vincent
    Piencenaves, NCIP Regional Director Mr. Ferdausi S Cerna, Datu De Oro Mario A. Gentio,
    two former rebels also known as “DAVE” and “JULIET”, and other partner agencies of the
    government and stakeholders, Butuan City Police Office headed by Acting City Director,
    PCOL CANILO AGUA FUENTES, spearheaded the March and Indignation Rally held at
    Guingona Park, Brgy Diego Silang, Butuan City.

    In support with the Executive Order Number 70, End Local Communist Armed
    Conflict (ELCAC) under the mandate of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the march and rally
    is part of the whole-of-nation approach that addresses the root cause of insurgencies,
    disturbances and tensions to attain sustainable peace. The indignation pronouncements
    from the different sectors of Butuan, including the testimonies of the two former rebels, gave
    emphasis that the people are already fed up with the violence and terrorism caused by the
    Communist Terrorist Groups for the past years.

    ‘There are new beginnings and good life waiting for those who want to go back in the
    folds of our government,’ BCPO Acting City Director PCOL CANILO AGUA FUENTES said.
    ‘Let us not be fooled with their nonsense ideologies and empty promises. It is high time that
    we should stand firm against these barbaric enemies of the state,’ he concluded.
