use this module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress
while allowing them to manage their own learning at home.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as
they do the tasks included in the module.

Japan and Korea. Specifically, it seeks to achieve the learning

Face and Mask Painting of Korea and Japan

Korean masks originated with religious meaning just like the masks of
other countries which also have religious or artistic origins. As civilization
developed, masks gradually evolved in function from being sacred objects
used in shamanism to becoming forms of entertainment and art.
Masks are painted in vivid primary colors, representing both the
individual personality and social class of the character as well as his or her
age and gender.
In Japan, face painting is being used in theater. The pattern and color
stand for certain characters. The used of lines and colors are very important to
the story being told. It represents the role of each character of the story.
Philippines ( Masskara Festival)have similar functions from Japan and
Korea but different in terms of symbols and meaning. In this festival, they
use colorful and smiling mask as a sign of declaration of people in Bacolod
that they have survived the tragedies and challenges happened to them.

using primary colors and Philippine mask (masskara) using secondary colors.

• Mask painting is done in Korea and Africa while Japan used their face
as canvas for painting and Philippines used both mask and face
painting
• Masskara festival in the Philippines used different color in mask while
Korea and Japan mostly used primary colors
• The used of mask in performances (dance or theater) were practice in
Korea, Japan, Philippines and other foreign countries.
• The influence of religion in other countries played a big role in the idea
of arts in Japan and Korea.
