PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE OF MANAGEMENT

Course Objectives

1. To translate management theories to practices that result in organizational effectiveness


and efficiency.

2. To provide an understanding of the concept of Managerial functions, its importance on


attainment of organizational objectives.

3. To understand the creation and maintenance of organizational structure and roles to clarify
the internal environment of the organization.

4. To understand, motivate and lead individuals and groups to attain organizational


objectives.

5. To understand the role of control and co-ordination in the management of an organization.

Pre Requisites

1. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized University.


2. More than average communication skills and ability to read/write English.
3. Basic understanding of Management and how an organization operates.

Course Description

Principles and Practices of Management (PPM) is oriented towards developing a better


understanding of what management in organizations is all about and thus to prepare students for
an exciting, challenging and rewarding career in Management. The Principles, practices and
theories outlined in the course will be used to help transform students not only into more
effective people but also help become managerial leaders.
This course allows for an improved understanding of an organization and its working, keeping in
mind the environment in which the organization operates.
