d. Review: Students will complete a few questions regarding to the previous discussion as part
of the review.

Guide Questions
 What was our previous topic that is being discussed yesterday?
 What are the three (3) types of machines?
 What is a simple machine? Give an example.
 What is a compound machine? Give an example.
 What is a complex machine? Give an example.

B. Motivation
Activity: Yellow or Red
Direction: Raise the yellow-colored paper if the statement shows proper handling of
machines and raise the red if it is improper.
1. Keep sharp and pointed objects aways from a person you are talking.
2. Always leave a sharp tool near a child.
3. Never forget to keep sharp and pointed tools in a tool box.
4. Slippery spots should not be avoided.
5. Always keep small children away when using a sharp tool.
6. Do not check your brakes before driving.
7. Do not race on ramps.
8. Use sharp tools under adult supervision.
9. Run on a ramp and do not hold on the hand rails.
10. Be extra careful in bringing down patients on wheelchairs, children on strollers, or
grocery carts.

C. Lesson Proper
 Present how machines help our task easier and quicker.
 Discussing and explaining staying safety in using a sharp objects, wheels and gears,
ramps, pulleys and biking.
 Giving some insights with regard to the importance of practicing safe use of machines.
 Some of the students will answer the questions given by the teacher.
Guide Questions:
 Give some safety precautions when using machines.
 Why are you told point the tip of a sharp object to the ground?

D. Application
Individual Activity
Direction: Make a list of safety precautions when using machines. Give at least two for each of
the following:
1. Sharp Objects
2. Wheels and Gears
3. Ramps
4. Pulleys
5. Bicycle

 The students will answer this activity to test if they do know safety precautions when
using machines.

E. Generalization
 Why it is important to discuss the importance of practicing safe use of machines.
 Why do we need to know the different safety precautions while handling machines.

F. Evaluation
Group Activity: Safety with Simple Machines
Direction: Make a list of safety precautions a person must take when using a tool or the machine
shown in the picture given to you by your teacher. After all the groups are done, you will post
your work on the board. A representative of your group will report your work in front of the
class.

Questions:
1. What kind of compound machine was assigned to your group?
2. How did this affect your way of writing some precautionary measures when using this
machine?
