Procedure of Test DSC on MF/HF (Calling coast station)

If the coast station receive DSC test message, he will automatic send back ACK BQ
message, and it means that we have a success DSC test. If the coast station not send
back ACK BQ message in few minutes, we can change other frequency to send again.

Step 1:
Switch the POWER ON.

Step 2:
Choice the Mode to "–MASTER-".

Step 3:
3.1 Choice "Func".
3.2 Choice "Edit/Send".
3.3 Choice "11.Safety Test Call".
Step 4:
Press "Edit/Send".

Step 5:
Choice the coast station you want.
Ex: Shanghai.

Step 6:
Choice the appropriate frequency.
Ex: 12577.0

Step 7:
Is the frequency free now?
Press "YES".
Step 8:
Start to transmit the call.

Step 9:
Sending!!!
Press "ESC" key for breaking sending.

Step 10:
Print out.
Self Test *** Modem loop test started ***

Step 1:
Switch the POWER ON.

Step 2:
Choice the Mode to "–MASTER-".

Step 3:
3.1 Choice "Func".
3.2 Choice "Test".
3.3 Choice "Modem Loop Test" and then
press enter.
Step 4:
Print out.

*** Inmarsat C performance test ***

Step 1:
Press "Alt" + "U" on the keyboard.

Step 2:
Choice "performance test initiation".

Step 3:
Press "YES" and initiate performance
test.
Step 4:
Automatic test mode:
Normal communication disabled.
Do not press any distress button unless
you are in distress.

Step 5:
Press "F5" to print out.

Step 6:
And then print out.
How to use Notices to Mariners

1. Every week Admiralty publishes a


Notices to Mariners. In the cover, we can
find publish date, edition, contents, and
there are Notices range about this
booklet in left upper corner.

2. Section I of Notices to Mariners lists


new charts and new editions published,
and any charts withdrawn during the
week. The publication of new charts and
new editions, or withdrawn, take place in
the near future, are also announced in
this Notices.
3. Section II of Notices to Mariners, first
we can find Notices according to chart
No. in "Index of charts affected" ; then
according to Notices No. to find page in
"Index of notices and chart folios",
finally according page to find charts
amend contents.

4. 2173(T) correction is about a


measuring instrument marked by a
special yellow buoy anchored in position
L36°20.29'N λ009°30.25'W in Portugal.
No. 87 chart that former Notices is
196(T) 2010 and it is cancelled.

5. According to Notices to Mariners to
