3. Checking the Attendance
The discussant will ask the Block Secretary to check and inspect the
absentee/s in the class.
4. Drill
The discussant will spin the roulette of names, whoever stops will take a
piece of paper from the box that contains unfamiliar words. Whatever
unfamiliar word the student gets, he/she will explain it based on his/her
knowledge. Then, the discussant will read the meaning of the particular
word on the discussion paper.
The unfamiliar words and its meaning are the following:
• Cognizant – knowledgeable of something especially through
personal experience; mindful
• Developmental milestones – Also called “Developmental
indicators” are a set of behavioral or functional skills thresholds
that map the course of your child’s development. These behaviors
are categorized into five domains – physical and motor, social and
emotional, cognitive, adaptive and communication and language.
• Assimilation – The state or condition of being assimilated, or of
being absorbed into something. The process of adopting the
language and culture of a dominant social group or nation, or the
state of being socially integrated into the culture of the dominant
group in a society.
• Equilibration – The process of finding equilibrium or balance – is
Piaget’s explanation for how learning grows. Individuals try to
balance their present understandings with new events or data
they encounter that conflict with what they know, while attempting
to maintain stability.
• Multiple intelligence – A theory describing the different ways
students learn and acquire information. It ranges from the use of
words, numbers, pictures and music, to the importance of social
interactions, introspection, physical movement and being in tune
with nature.
• Intuitive thought/thinking – Means going with one’s first instinct
and reaching decisions quickly based on automatic cognitive
processes.
• Animism – The concept that all elements of the material world all
people, animals, objects, geographic features, and natural
phenomena possess a spirit that connects them to each other.
• Inquisitiveness – The quality of wanting to discover as much as
you can about things, sometimes in a way that annoys people.

• Egocentricity – Ability to differentiate between the child’s
perspective and that of others and also the condition of thinking
only about yourself and what is good for you.
• Dexterity – The ability to perform a difficult action quickly and
skillfully with the hands.
• Conventional language – Is commonly agreed upon vocabulary,
idioms, and phrases used in ordinary speech without including
exclusionary language. It is the accepted mode of conversation
used by the average person in everyday situation.
• Aptitude – A component of a competence to do a certain kind of
work at a certain level.
• Cognitive development – Means the development of the ability to
think and reason.
• Developmentally Appropriate Teaching – NAEYC defines it as
methods that promote each child’s optimal development and
learning through a strengths-based, play-based approach to
joyful, engaged learning
5. Review
The discussant will ask the students about the lesson last meeting, what
are their learnings from the previous discussion. Moreover, a short
summary about the last topic will be given by the discussant.

puzzle that they need to put together. After completing the puzzle, an
envelope containing jumbled words will be given and they should form
the correct word. They are given 5-7 minutes to complete the game.
Words: Experiences, Development, Language, Cognitive, Play

7. Presentation
