Job Description for Analyst – Global People and Compensation Analytics

Nomura’s Wholesale business includes Global Markets (Fixed Income & Equities) and Investment Banking
division (ECM, DCM, M&A). Wholesale division operates across all four regions – Japan, Asia, Europe and
Americas – and is a globally integrated franchise.

Business Unit Overview:

The Human Resources team partners with Nomura’s businesses to offer a consistent global approach to
people management with local ownership and delivery. Our objective is to support Nomura’s Vision and

be recognized as an employer of choice. We seek to ensure that there is clarity about how the HR team
makes a difference to business performance. One of our key requirements is in the management of people
risk across our businesses, and to encourage integrity, fairness, transparency and accountability. The
Global People Analytics and Global Compensation teams support this requirement by using a broad set of
data to provide management information that gives insight into people management, performance and risks.

Role & Responsibilities:

 This role will have the opportunity to rotate across our Global People Analytics and Compensation
Analytics teams, spending up to 6 months in each area to gain a broad set of experience of working
with data within Nomura’s Global Human Resources team

 The individual chosen will develop strong working relationships with HR specialists and analytics
colleagues regionally and globally to build and enhance reporting functionality and delivery of
insights

 Key responsibilities include:

o Be creative and proactive in providing people analytics and related metrics, as well as in
constructing analytical tools (e.g. dashboards) for use by the HR Business Partners and
business managers

o Provide support, reporting and insight on various HR processes conducted annually


o Play role in year-end compensation planning, including contributing to summary of global
compensation analytics for business leaders, creating and maintaining compensation tools
specific to the needs of the business

o Ad Hoc analytics and reporting related to various HR Processes and Workforce particular
to the Global People Analytics team

o Building and enhancing dashboards across a number of key workforce related areas such
as:

 Summary Level Headcount and Run-rate reporting


 Attrition analytics – number of leavers and turnover percentage for a given
population over a given period, including back-up details
 Requests for new hire data – number of new joiners, details of new joiners for a
given population over a given period
 Diversity analytics – insight and reporting on progress against Nomura’s inclusion
and diversity strategy
 Compensation Analytics for any given population
o Periodic reporting and analysis of key hires and leavers with related cost run rate impact
across the business
o Work alongside our advanced analytics teams to convert new analytics findings into regular
strategic reporting for business leaders

Skills Required
 Strong analytical and excel skills
 Experience of working with one or more data visualization and engineering tools such as Power BI,
Tableau and Alteryx, or experience in one or more scripting language such as R, Python or SQL, or
other computer science based qualifications
 Strong with PowerPoint and presentations
 Quick Learner
 High quality communication skills
 Attention to detail
 Ability to multi-task efficiently and meet project deadlines
 Interest in People Analytics or Human Resources
 Minimum CGPA 8
 MBA or equivalent students completing their final year and available to join in April/May 2023
