Process Notes
P1 The process data on this Mechanical data sheet is based on Process data sheet no. 3850-8110-PS-3807 Rev O1.

P2 Purpose
The CPI package is required to provide oil and heavy solids removal of the industrial wastewater at Preem’s Gothenburg refinery and forms part of the new
Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
Immediately upstream of the CPI is the inlet basin to the treatment process.
Immediately downstream of the CPI is CPI Sump and Buffer Tanks.
Figure 1_1 below shows a simplified schematic of the proposed treatment of the overall WWTP.

P3 Feed Streams
As general background, Preem’s HVO project will produce 2 additional streams going to the WWTP (GFU and HCU) and will modify the existing main refinery
wastewater stream. Higher values in Total Nitrogen are expected in the existing stream together with a flow increase. TOC and Total Nitrogen can vary a lot
depending on the processed crudes (H2S Scavenger) and when there is a turnaround in the refinery. The values can be high during shut down and start up
and with lower load in between. Stream 2 (GFU) will come from the sour wastewater stripper. Stream 3 (HCU) will be distilled water from evaporation and
may contain fatty acids <20ppm. At present the information available is minimal for this Stream 3.
The CPI unit is the first treatment step in the process, the wastewater has only passed through the inlet basin at this stage.

P4 Feed Stream Assumptions to CPI Unit (HOLD1)
At this stage, the following assumptions have been made to define the feed quality as a worse case:
l Effects of diluting worst quality stream 1 with streams 2 and 3 not taken into account.
Assumptions will be refined as the overall WWTP design progresses.

P5 Two CPI units will be required in this package – each sized for 350m3/h. Under normal operation these will operate in duty/standby however in times of high
flow there must be the option to operate in parallel.
The following list outlines the main equipment required within each CPI package (See also Note M22):
· CPI body & basin
· Weirs - adjustable inlet weir is desirable
· Skimmer
· Sludge removal equipment
· Internal plates and Internal supports for components
· Airtight cover (for Nitrogen blanketing) – including nitrogen inlet

P6 The SUPPLIER shall confirm the concentrations of the following in the effluent leaving the CPI Unit:
l HOI
l Total TOC and Soluble TOC
l TSS
l Total P and Total N
l pH

P7 Mass Balance
The SUPPLIER shall provide a mass balance which shall report the following for each stream:
l Flow including average, peak and minimum (m3/h and kg/h)
l Temperature (oC) and pressure (bar)
l pH
l Key parameters including TOC, TSS and HOI (kg/day, kg/h and mg/l)
l Demulsifier dosing flowrate (m3/h)
