PART1: 1. Select a robot manufacturer. Give information about his business and reach in the
globe.
From it’s founding in 1921, Mitsubishi Electric has been at the forefront of Japan’s
technical ingenuity and product innovation. From it’s first hit product—an electric fan for
consumer use—Mitsubishi Electric has continued to create a long list of “firsts” and
groundbreaking new technologies that have shaped its business fields all around the
world.
Mitsubishi Electric Automation is U.S. affiliate company of Mitsubishi Electric Corp. and
has more than 75 years of experience in the automation industry. Its product portfolio
includes programmable automation controllers (PAC), programmable logic controllers
(PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), variable frequency drives (VFD), servo
amplifiers and motors, control software, computerized numerical controllers (CNC),
motion controllers, robots, and low-voltage power distribution products. Mitsubishi
Electric U.S. group companies have 38 locations throughout North America with
approximately 4,000 employees.

Last year, Mitsubishi Electric invested in Realtime Robotics Inc., which is developing
motion-planning technology, and it launched the MELFA ASSISTA collaborative robot in
May 2020.
As one of many Mitsubishi Electric automation affiliates around the world, Mitsubishi
Electric Automation, Inc., is part of a $40 billion global company serving a wide variety of
industrial markets with a family of automation products including programmable logic
controllers, variable frequency drives, operator interfaces, motion control systems,
computer numerical controls, industrial robots, servo amplifiers and motors, and
industrial sewing machines. The corporate philosophy of the company includes a
commitment not only to providing superior solutions and service to Mitsubishi Electric
customers, but also to contributing to the local community and creating a rewarding
work environment for its employees. It is among the top 10 manufacturer of the robots in
the world.
Mitsubishi has developed many phenomenal robotic systems since its establishment.
These robots help in manufacturing products in less time with great precision. The
company has developed Codian robots along with SCARA and articulated robots.

The Japanese company said the robotic training method would allow units to perform
routine roles without having to be taught by specialists. Mitsubishi said the new system
could reduce hours needed for a sample task from 60 hours to 5 hours.

Mitsubishi Electric plans to commercialize the technology in 2023 or later as “further

performance enhancements and extensive verifications” are needed

PART2: Select an arm and give its detailed specs.

ROBOTIC ARM:
Robotic arms are machines that are programmed to execute a specific task or job
quickly, efficiently, and extremely accurately. Generally motor-driven, they’re most often
used for the rapid, consistent performance of heavy and/or highly repetitive procedures
over extended periods of time, and are especially valued in the industrial production,
manufacturing, machining and assembly sectors.
A typical industrial robot arm includes a series of joints, articulations and manipulators
that work together to closely resemble the motion and functionality of a human arm (at
least from a purely mechanical perspective). A programmable robotic arm can be a
complete machine in and of itself, or it can function as an individual robot part of a larger
and more complex piece of equipment.
Robot:RV-2A/3AJ series is a vertical articulated compact robot based on the e-series
that has been greatly upgraded. These robot response to user need for compact and
flexible production facility generated due to the recent diffusion of compact ang highly
accuracy such as personal computer related devices information terminal devices and
compact electronic devices for mounting on vehicle, due to shorter product life cycle.

Mitsubishi RV-2A (2 kg lifting capacity)/3AJ (3kg lifting capacity) robot is completely user
friendly and It can be programmed with the teach pendant as well as with a PC offers
speed and high Precision performance over conventional industrial robots, boasting a
maximum speed of 3500mm/sec, 621mm reach and a position repeatability of +/-
0.04mm.
PART3 Select an application for this arm. Give details of the process with sketches etc .
APPLICATION:
This type of robot is used in the process of material handling. Following are the cases in
which this robot type can be used:
1) BIN picking
2) Logistics
3) palletizing
4) pick and place
sensor attached to the robots for detecting the objects in place. On detection of object,
the object is picked and placed from one location to another location by communicating
with each other for task completion. It continues to its location, does its work at that
location and stops.
These robots are typically mounted on a stable stand, and have a long arm that can
reach their entire area of operation. The end of arm attachment is specialized to the type
of objects the robot intends to move.

These robots can transfer items from a stationary surface to a stationary surface,
stationary to a moving surface, moving to a stationary surface, and moving to a moving
surface (such as between two conveyor belts).

Simple pick and place robots that lift items and place them at other locations have a 5-
axis robotic arm. However, there are also 6-axis robotic arms in use that can twist the
items to rotate their orientation.

It has several parts:

• robot arm tool
• end effector
• actuator
• sensors
• controller
