WEEK 4- DECISION MAKING

ACTIVITY 5

1. Problem

- Three of David's classmates publicly criticize educators for using insulting language and
publishing graphic photographs online. The issue is David's inability to choose between
telling the truth and lying.

2. Choices

- David has the option of speaking out and telling the principal, that three of his classmates
are having problems, or he can choose to keep quiet.

3. Consequences

- Losing one's principles and/or dropping out of school are two consequences.

4. Values

- Having friends is beneficial, but you should always act morally.

5. Feelings

- If this is the case, the situation may be upsetting and perplexing.

6. More information

- The three students created a website, and the school's principal now has a program that lets
him know who has visited it. If no one comes forward with the names of the site's creators, he
will question every student who visited the site. He is encouraging students to come forward
with the names of the creators of the site.

7. Who can help

- David's parents and himself can help in decision-making.

8. Decision

- Being honest is one of the best qualities a person can have. David should inform the teacher
of what he knows since it is the right thing to do.

9. Assess Decision

- David must think that even though it involves a friendship, it is in his friend's best interests,
which is compatible with his views. Moreover, given the consequences that the three
classmates had to suffer because of what they did, perhaps it will serve as a lesson to them
not to criticize or make fun of other people.
