A RESOLUTION ADOPTING REPUBLIC ACT NO 8172 ENTITLED “AN ACT PROMOTING

SALT IODIZATION NATIONWIDE AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES” AND ALSO ADOPT ITS
IMPLEMENTING RULES AND REGULATIONS AND THE STRATEGIC PLAN OF THE
NATIONAL SALT IODIZATION; PROGRAM, 2018-2022

WHEREAS, the policy of the State is to protect and promote the health of the people, maintain an
effective food regulatory system and to provide the entire population the nutritional fortification of food and
combat micronutrient malnutrition as a priority health program of the nation;

WHEREAS, the Department of Health (DOH) as the lead agency in the implementation of said Act and
in accordance with Section 11 of said Act mandating the DOH to formulate the Implementing Rules and
Regulations (IRR) cooperation with ot5her government agencies involved in the implementation of the law;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, in consideration of the

above premises, we Barangay 08 Council hereby re-adopt Republic Act No. 8172 entitled “An act promoting
salt iodization nationwide and for related purposes “and also adopt its implementing rules and regulations and
the strategic plan of the national iodization program, 2018-2022.
