“EVERY CHILD IS SPECIAL”

Amir Khan directed the Hindi film Every Child Is Special. The plot revolves around Ishaan, an
eight-year-old boy who struggles to keep up with the academic demands of school. Ishan is a
child who suffers from dyslexia, a neurological disorder. He has a condition that makes it
difficult for him to recognize letters and numbers. He can't write or read properly because of his
condition. People around him are blinded by his wrongdoings and are unaware of his condition.
They are unaware of how difficult it is for him to have that condition. They label him as a
disobedient, shameless, lazy, and stupid child because they don't understand how difficult it is
for him to be that way. Ishan's life was changed by Teacher Ram from the moment he
discovered he had dyslexia as a child. He went to Ishan's home and explained and enlightened
his parents about his condition, spoke with the principal and asked him to be considerate, and
patiently taught him everything he needed to know from the moment he decided to check Ishan's
records. He saved him from drowning in his own misery. He has excelled in his studies as well
as as a painter. He gave his dying self-esteem a boost. He was able to return Ishan's life to
wholeness.

I'll give my thoughts on the film. I have mixed emotions while watching the movie. But
throughout the film, I am moved to tears. It took me on an emotional roller coaster, causing me
to feel happy, sad, amazed, and angry. My heart was broken when Ishan's parents decided to
send him to boarding school. Even though I am a young adult who cries whenever I am separated
from my family, how can Ishan, a young boy with dyslexia, be so? When they allowed Ishan to
stay at the boarding school, my heart began to swell; I felt the pain of a mother who doesn't want
to be apart from her child but can't do anything to help him. I felt Ishan's pain as well; it's as if he
was sent away because they believe he can change his attitudes despite not knowing what his
condition is. I can feel his anguish, longing, and weakening self-esteem; he almost gave up
painting because he believed he was a worthless being, and that even his parents had abandoned
him. Ishan's flip book, which told the story of his longing for his family, broke my heart several
times.
In addition, Teacher Ram exposed me to the true reality of a teacher's life. It is not enough to
do something good for the students; it must always be the best. Through his simple efforts and
sacrifices, he was able to change a life; he was able to preserve a one-of-a-kind being. He
discovered a valuable gem among us, Ishan, a dyslexic child. Teacher Ram is an excellent, if not
the best, example of a teacher. He is not the type of teacher who is only concerned with the
students in his classroom.
