NARRATIVE REPORT

I started my practicum in educational settings on March 6, 2023, wherein they assigned us to

the Early Childhood and Lower School Guidance office at LaConsolacion College Tanauan. The
students assigned to me and Maureen ranged from kindergarten to grade 5. Ms. Anj Cacao, one
of the guidance associates, helped us set up our schedule and explained that the ojt training relies
on our availability. We also met another intern student from another school who had been
assigned to the lower school too. She informed us that she only needed one week to complete her
ojt internship then we were in charge of continuing her unfinished duties and work since we both
had the same students to manage.

Until the next day of our internship, March 20, 2023, Ms. Anj, our guidance associate, informed
us to work with Grade 1 students first because we cannot pull these students during their
scheduled exams next week, so she reminded us that it is better to finish it within that week of
our internship. She also stated that we needed to concentrate on the routine interviews for Grade
1 and assist them with how they will answer their school readiness assessment test. Our guidance
associate, Ms. Anj, predicted the students' summer vacation would be in May. In addition, we
needed to take a Guidance class for our ojt. So far, we have completed the routine interview in
Grade 1 in just two days and the school readiness assessment test for Grade 1. Our priority as
guidance associates the following day is to start checking papers and will begin interpreting the
scores. At first, I was a little confused about how we interpret all of the Grade 1 scores in their
school readiness assessment test despite having the manual book since it was my first time
understanding a psychological test like this, so we sought assistance by asking Ms. Anj how we
can interpret those scores.

So far, most Grade 1 students interviewed have responded correctly and honestly to questions
about problems they encountered based on their experiences and development. Some of them
experienced stress inside the classroom because they had certain classmates who misbehaved.
Also, the children shared that they had difficulties with their subjects in computer and science,
and the majority of them said that Mathematics was the most difficult to study because of
fractions. Also, I encountered a Grade 1 student who was for everyone, even his teacher was
hesitant to approach him. When someone spoke to him, he was distracted and only talked to his
one close friend in the classroom. I won't drop names, but I believe something lacking from him
that might create a problem if not addressed as soon as he grow.

Overall, despite the tiring experience I had in dealing with grade 1 students, Maureen and I still
enjoy talking with them. We've had heart-to-heart conversations with them, and it's a great
feeling that they trust us so easily, even though it was the first time we met and talked with them.
So far, I've had a great experience and haven't had too many problems that we haven't solved.
