3.3.2 Bracing : All steel structures shall be erected true and plumb and all match marks shall be followed. Temporary
bracings shall be introduced wherever necessary to take care of all loads to which the structures may be
subjected, including erection equipment and the operator of the same. Such bracing shall be left in placed as
long as may be required for safety. Errors in shop fabrication or deformation resulting from handling or
transportation which prevents the proper erection and fitting of parts shall be reported immediately to the Owner's
Engineer so shall be re-fabricated to the requirement of the Specification.

3.3.3 Anchor Bolts shall be of the sizes shown on Drawings and shall be accurately positioned.

3.3.4 Cross Bracings should be tightened properly prior to installation of purlins.

3.3.5 No welding or bolting shall be done until as much of the structure as will be stiffened by welding or bolting has
been properly aligned.

3.3.6 Adequacy of Temporary Connection: As erection progresses, the work shall be securely bolted or welded
sufficiently to take one of all dead load, wind and erection stresses. No permanent bolting or welding shall be
done until as such of the structure as will be stiffened thereby has been properly aligned. Drifting done during
assembly shall be only such as to bring parts into position, and not sufficient to enlarge the holes and disturb the
metal. Burning holes for connections is prohibited.

3.4 Survey:

3.4.1 Make an accurate survey of actual locations of steel members before starting erection work and immediately
upon completion of erection of steel of the entire structure and promptly submit. Should locations vary beyond
allowable tolerances, take necessary corrective measures and modify details and/or procedures as required to
bring the members into proper accurate alignment.

3.5 Inspection and Tests:

3.5.1 Structural Steel material and workmanship subject to inspection at all times, even after erection.

3.5.2 All welds are subject the inspection required by the American Welding Society (AWS). As a minimum
requirement, use the following procedures:

3.5.2.1 For full penetration welds, provide 100 percent testing using ultrasonic methods as described in
AWS.

3.5.2.2 For fillet welds, provide 100 percent visual inspections. If welds are questionable, use non-
destructive testing either ultrasonic or magnetic particle as described in AWS.

3.6 Clearing and Touch Up:

3.6.1 Leave work free from dirt, weld spatten grease and oil. Prime part field connected bolts, welds and damaged
areas of shop applied primer, with one coat of same kind and brand of point used for shop painting to form an
unbroken prime coat ready for finish painting. Before touching up, thoroughly clean areas to be painted of loose
scale, rust and foreign substances by approved cleaning tools and methods.
