What Is It:
Ethnic art
 Ethnic art, I believe, exhibits the most authentic Pilipino art in our period since it is free
of cultural influences from the west. One of the foundations of our identity, culture, and
customs is art. Intricate carving in woods, clay, stone, and weaving with exquisite
patterns are all part of this craft.
Islamic art
 Calligraphy, geometry, landscape, and arabesque design are more prevalent in Islamic
art. This art focuses on developing an art form that is based on the beauty of Islam's
teachings and respect for them. Because of the method used to create these sculptures, I
find this age to be incredibly intriguing and amazing.
Spanish era
 Formal paintings, sculpture, and architecture are the mainstays of Spanish art, which is
influenced by Byzantine, Gothic, Baroque, and Rococo art styles. The majority of the
artwork is religious in nature. It is mostly utilized in the Philippines to introduce and
propagate Catholicism.
American era
 The majority of American art concentrates on beautiful landscapes and secular art genres.
In the Philippines, it also introduces plays. Apart from their creative influence, I believe
that we are really fortunate to have been exposed to the English language and school
system in this century.
Japanese era
 I believe that we are more free to exhibit our artistic side in this age since the Japanese
era places a greater emphasis on promoting culture in East Asia. Paintings, on the other
hand, are used for propaganda. Graphically created propaganda statements containing the
imposition of Nihonggo in order to counteract western influence.
Modern era
 In the Philippines, modern art has grown into a wide range of styles and mediums,
causing the country to experience creative upheavals. Modern Filipino artists have more
leeway to experiment on their own. Our modern artist's most fascinating works
demonstrate his passion for his homeland and growing culture.
Contemporary era
 Because of the colonists' impact, contemporary art in the Philippines features a variety of
styles. In this period, the Filipino artist has greater flexibility to experiment on his own.
Our modern artist's most fascinating works demonstrate his passion for his homeland and
growing culture.

Activity 3:
 Philippines is one of the countries known for their rich cultures and tradition. There are
all sorts of activities such as games, contests, procession and a parade that serve as the
highlight. It takes weeks or even months to prepare for a fiesta, surprisingly both the rich
and poor make the same amount of effort in preparation; during a fiesta everyone is
equal. The fiesta — always colorful, always accompanied by music, feasting, and
camaraderie — is of importance on a town’s calendar. Here in Bohol, we also have our
own fiesta tradition that happens every year. It’s the celebration of our saint, St. Niño. It’s
called Ubay-Ubay Festival. We have street dancing parade, and after the parade will be
the competition. A lot of competitions happen after the parade, but the main event is the
competition of dance performances in honor of the St. Niño. During the festival, a lot of
stalls are present. There are stalls for foods, for henna, for keychains, necklaces and other
things. There are also rides available during the festival. The Ferris Wheel, Vikings, and
other rides. There are also times where a live band performs.

Activity 4:
 The remnants of during the Spanish Colonial power from the 16th to the 19th centuries
was the Plaza Moriones, Intramuros. It is also called the Walled City, and at the time of
the Spanish Colonial Period was synonymous to the City of Manila. In my opinion,
people utilized these remnants to educate young people regarding our heritage at that
period of time.
