Dear Future Form 5 Parent

I am delighted to bring you details of the exci ng Normandy trip, which we plan to run once again for
Form 5. As we are only too well aware the situa on regarding foreign travel in September is unclear,
but we are hoping to be able to go ahead. However, please rest assured that we will not run the trip
if we judge the risk to be too high, even if the regula ons allow us to travel.

The trip will depart in the very early hours of Sunday 12 September 2021 (children will stay at school
on Saturday night) and return late on Friday 17 September 2021, travelling by coach and ferry. We
will be staying at Château de la Baudonnière (h p://www.the-chateau.com/), as we have done for a
number of years, where most of the ac vi es will also take place. Although nal details of ac vi es
have yet to be con rmed we hope to do things such as an assault course and bread making, all with
instruc ons in French.

Our excursions will include a visit to a market, the D-Day beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry.

The main aim of the trip is to totally immerse pupils in French language and culture for the week, as
well as gaining a be er understanding of some of the major historical events that have a ected
Europe.

The trip is part of the French curriculum and therefore there is no cost for the trip, but children will
require a small amount of spending money for the week.

Due to the proximity of the trip to the beginning of the new academic year, I would be grateful if you
could complete and return the a ached consent form to me electronically (a photo of it completed is
ne) by
01 August 2021 to the e-mail address at the bo om of this le er.

A detailed i nerary will be published towards the beginning of next term.

Please check that your child’s passport has at least 6 months to run a er 17 September 2021. Your
child will also require an EHIC/GHIC card. If you have an EHIC card that is s ll in date, it remains
valid. If you do not, you will need to apply for a new GHIC card via this link.

There will be an informa on mee ng on Wednesday 8 September in the Saloon at 1530 to go over
the ner details.

I understand that the insurance taken out by the school will cover personal possessions up
to £1500, with a single ar cle limit of £250 and an excess of £25. Any addi onal insurance is
