Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 2: Applying for a job

1. Activity Description

Type of activity: Collaborative

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

Write short texts in English in a specific context for a defined aim. Those texts are
introduction letters for a job, for yourself and for someone else. This task is an
integral part to improve your professional career. So, you have the opportunity of
taking advantage of actual job opportunities in your real life.

For this task, keep in mind:

- Read diligently the information about Collaborative work considered at UNAD

- Each part of this activity must be posted in the forum.

- Participations or contributions shared in the forum within the last 3 days before
closing the task or out of time will be graded under average or low level.

- This task represents the first part of all the production tasks suggested in this
course. All of them are connected to each other to be developed.

The activity consists of 4 stages, and all of them are required to create your
professional profile in English.

STAGE 1
General information

1.1 Read Annex 1: Building my Job Future, located in the learning environment,
Activities guide and evaluation rubric - Unit 2 - Task 2 – Applying for a Job.

1.2 You need to develop all the activities of modules 7 and 8 in E-Book – Online
Content (Learning Environment). You must take a screenshot of the answers of
those activities and share them in the Collaborative forum Applying for a job
(Learning Environment).

1.3 Now, you must introduce yourself in the forum: your name, age, the city where
you live, hobbies, likes and dislikes, marital status, what you are studying,
something about your current job, and what your professional goals are. Use a
minimum of 100 words in English for this part.

STAGE 2
Your own introduction letter
Individual content

1.4 You must write your own introduction for a job. You will find the structure for
the letter and its components in the Annex 2: Introductory letter model,
located in the learning environment, Activities guide and evaluation rubric -
Unit 2 - Task 2 – Applying for a Job.

1.5 You must post in text format your letter’s draft, as a comment and not as a
file. It allows the tutor’s feedback in the forum.

STAGE 3
Recommendation letter
Collaborative content

1.6 In this stage, you must write a recommendation letter for a mate. You need to
choose one of your e-mates from the group and make a recommendation
letter. Consider the information about the employer used in her/his
introduction letter. You will find the structure for the letter and its component
in the Annex 3: recommendation letter model, located in the learning
environment, Activities guide and evaluation rubric - Unit 2 - Task 2 – Applying
for a Job.

1.7 As you did before, you must share in text format your draft of this another
letter, as a comment and not as a file. It allows the tutor’s feedback in the
forum in a faster way.

IMPORTANT: Avoid sending files to the forum. Please, upload your both letter drafts
as text (comment).

STAGE 4
Collaborative Stage

4.1 Finally, your group organizes a presentation in www.genially.com or


https://es.wix.com/. You will include all your letters posted previously, with the
corrections suggested by the tutor. Use some interactive or funny aspects, be
creative.

4.2 Each student will upload the letters on the Wix or Genially page created by the
group.

4.3 The Wix or the Genially link must be shared in the forum. One link per group. Be
sure your link is public.

INDIVIDUAL WORK CONSOLIDATION

Each student must consolidate and submit in a PDF format the following information
from the evidence of the participation in the Collaborative forum:

collaborative group, and other information you consider relevant.

6 The Genially or Wix link created by the group with the information required (Stage
2 and 3)

A PDF document per student must be uploaded in the Evaluation Environment.

For the development of the activity, consider the following aspects:

In the Initial Information Environment, you must check out the agenda to verify
the opening and closing dates of the task.

In the Learning Environment, you must check out and study the Online Content
(Level B1 modules 7 and 12). Also, participate in the forum for the development of
Individual and Collaborative activities.

In the Evaluation Environment, every student must upload the PDF format
document, with all the activities required.

Evidence of individual work:
The individual evidence to be submitted is:

- Screenshots sharing the activities developed in the modules of the E-Book,


personal information (introductory comment).
- Drafts of the introducing letter.
- Final and individual consolidation document (.pdf file).

Evidence of collaborative work:


The collaborative evidence to be submitted is:

- Draft of each recommendation letter.


- Link of the WIX or Genially Product with the introducing and recommendation
letters of all members of the group.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit

For Collaborative evidence, all members of the group must participate with their
contributions in the development of the task. Consider the following:

● In each group, a single member will be chosen to submit the requested product
in the Evaluation environment.

● Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it has met
all the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.

● Only the members of the group that participated with contributions during the
time assigned for the task should be included as authors of the submitted product.

Please, keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.

In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.

Under the Academic Code of Conduct, the actions that infringe the academic order,
among others, are the following: paragraph e) Plagiarism is to present as your own
work all or part of a written report, task or document of the invention carried out by
another person. It also implies the use of citations or lack of references, or it includes
citations where there is no match between these and the reference and paragraph f)

The academic penalties students will face are:


a) In case of academic fraud demonstrated in the academic work or evaluation, the
score obtained will be zero (0.0) without any disciplinary measures being derived.
b) In case of proven plagiarism in academic work of any nature, the score obtained
will be zero (0.0), without any disciplinary measures being derived.
