MEETING SUMMARY:

As a team, we are aware that in order for everyone to feel valued, respected, and supported, a bold place
must be created. As a result, we pledge to do the following to develop a brave environment for all team
members:

1. Acknowledge Your Limitations: To establish a brave space where everyone is free to be

themselves, we shall be aware of and accept our own weaknesses and preconceptions. We shall
make an effort to listen attentively and sympathetically without assuming anything or making
quick judgments.

Example Action: In order to actively listen to and learn from one another, we will start team
meetings by taking time to consider our own inclinations and limitations.

2. Acknowledge that We Can Learn from Discomfort: We shall accept the discomfort that progress
entails and recognise that making mistakes is common. We promise to commit to growing from
such errors and utilizing them as learning experiences.

Example Action: To create a secure environment where everyone can offer and receive
constructive input, we'll set aside time for regular feedback meetings.

3. Acknowledge Privileges: We shall be conscious of and actively seek to overcome our own biases,
prejudices, and privileges in order to foster an environment that is welcoming to all.
Example Action: Through inviting and valuing other voices and opinions, we will foster a team
culture that actively promotes diversity.

4. Speak Up When We See Something Unjust: Any unfair conduct or language that goes against
our team values will be called out, and we will take appropriate action.

Example Action: We promise to take steps to solve the issue and will set up a reporting system
that allows team members to report any unfair behavior without fear of retaliation.

We suggest the following updates to our team norms to reinforce our commitment to creating a brave
space:

● Provide inclusive and transparent communication channels that allow all team members to voice
their ideas without fear of repercussion.
● Provide a listening environment where team members can practice being empathic and non-
judgmental.
● Urge team members to aggressively confront their own prejudices and biases and to get insight
from many viewpoints.
● Recognize that mistakes happen, and commit to giving regular feedback and chances for
improvement.
● Create a reporting mechanism that ensures prompt action against any behavior that violates our
team's principles and a zero-tolerance policy for all such behavior.
As a group, we commit to upholding these standards and doing our part to foster a fearless environment
where everyone feels heard, safe, and empowered to give their best work.
