How to change the shares of crude oil sources

1. Go to the “Inputs” tab

2. Scroll to Section “3.1.a) Share of crude oil sources”
3. Set Cell E21 (Crude_SourceRef) to 2
4. Change the user defined share in Row 24 and Row 32
• U.S. Domestic = Bakken + Eagle Ford + Rest of U.S.

• Mexico
• Middle
East
• Latin

• Africa
• Others
How to change refining efficiencies
1. Go to the “Inputs” tab
2. Scroll to Section “3.3) Petroleum Refining Efficiency”
3. Choose Simulation scenarios (E63) from 0 to 8
• 0: Defined in the time-series tables (Fuel_Prod_TS)
• 1: Calculated by the regression formula* based on the crude oil mix
• 2: Calculated by the regression formula* based on the user defined
crude quality, refinery product slate and complexity index
• 3 – 8: Based on predefined crude quality, refinery product slate and
complexity index
4. When 0 is selected, a user can directly enter the refining
efficiency of each product to Row 77 (Efficiency defined in
the time-series tables)
* The regression formula is available in Elgowainy et al. (2014)
How to change conventional crude recovery
efficiencies
1. Go to the “Inputs” tab
2. Scroll to Section “3.1.b) Efficiency for Petroleum Recovery”
3. Change Cell E36 (Petro_Crude_Rec_Eff)
How to change high octane gasoline blendstock
refining assumptions (E25 and E40)
1. Go to the “Petroleum” tab
2. Scroll to the last 12 columns in Section “3) Calculations of
Energy Consumption, Water Consumption, and Emissions
for Petroleum Fuels By Stage”
3. Change the assumptions
(efficiencies, intermediate
combustion) directly
