Rotational Motion and Moment of

Inertiaa
1. Rotational Motion : Itrepresents the motion of a body turning
about an axis. In pure rotation of a rigid body each particle of the body
describes a circle with its centre on a fixed line which is called axis of
rotation.
The physical quantities and the laws which are used to describe linear
motion all have their rotational analogous, as for example moment of
inertia and angular velocity in rotational motion correspond to mass and
linear velocity respectively in the case of linear motion.
2. Rotational equation of motion are

axis.

distances of various particles of the body from the axis.
