WHAT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM?
Environmental problems are "alterations of a change due to human activities or natural
environmental conditions, these are negative changes since they can be local or global,
that's why we always start from alternatives".

(Mendoza Pérez Ángel Gabriel).

CURIOUS FACTS

HOW DOES IT IMPACT YOUR DAILY LIFE?

HOW WILL IT IMPACT IN 5 YEARS?

SOLUTION ALTERNATIVE

(Mora Torres Catheryn Quetzalli).

CURIOUS FACTS

1. By 2050, almost every species of seabird on the planet will eat plastic
2. So far, some 700 species of marine animals have been reported to have eaten or
become trapped in plastic

HOW DOES IT IMPACT YOUR DAILY LIFE?

Plastic bags, once consumed, cause internal blockages and often lead to death. Larger
pieces of plastic can also damage the digestive systems of seabirds and whales.

HOW WILL IT IMPACT IN 5 YEARS?

It is estimated that 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into the oceans every year. In
2025 our oceans will have 1 ton of plastic for every 3 tons of fish and by 2050 there will
be more plastic than fish. The report warns of the alarming situation of plastic pollution
and provides solutions to make it an ally and not the cause of one of the biggest
environmental problems of our century.

SOLUTION ALTERNATIVE

Some of the actions that can be implemented in order to reduce the negative impact of
plastic pollution can be:

Work with waste management infrastructures that ensure that the collected plastic
waste is reused as a resource. This would be a way to avoid the excessive
accumulation of plastic waste in vulnerable areas.

(Navarro González Giovanni Andre).

CURIOUS FACTS

1.The exact amount of plastics in the seas is unknown, but it is estimated that there are
5-50 trillion pieces of plastic, not including the pieces that are on the seabed or on the
beaches.
2. 8 millón tons of garbage a year reach the seas and oceans.

HOW WILL IT IMPACT IN 5 YEARS?

SOLUTION ALTERNATIVE
(Salas Palomares Fabiola).

CURIOUS FACTS

1. 40% of plastic is discarded after a single use and contributes a large amount of
pollution worldwide.
2. The presence of microplastics in the atmosphere affect the bacteria that produce
10% of the earth's oxygen.

HOW DOES IT IMPACT YOUR DAILY LIFE?

We can find plastics during the course of our day to day, these have a negative impact
since they cause damage; blocking the sewers of our streets, we can also find them in
the ecosystems of marine species, but generally these record great distances, through
the wind, rainwater, rivers, drainage, this is due to the direct action of us as people (like
when we throw rubbish).
HOW WILL IT IMPACT IN 5 YEARS?

This environmental problem will affect each year in a greater way since the production
of plastics increases year after year in tons that are directed to the sea, the degradation
of plastics is not complete, it is only modified in a smaller way, during the 5 to In 10

years the oceans will have about 1 kilo of plastic for every 3 kilograms of fish .

SOLUTION ALTERNATIVE

Some of the solutions or actions that we can do to reduce plastics is to avoid bags,
bottles, straws, spoons, forks, etc. Since we can commonly replace these with reusable
bags, metal straws, we can also reuse or separate our waste.

You can take different solution measures such as creating a Garden with plastic bottles
or using the bottles for vegetables.
