Bouquet for Mother's Day

Materials (per student): crayons, scissors, glue, construction paper;
green, blue, pink, purple and yellow finger paint

Instructions: Print out and photocopy the Bouquet for Mother’s Day
template (1 per student). Teach students the word bouquet. Point to the
picture of the bouquet on the finished product and say These are flowers.
This is a bouquet. Encourage students to repeat. Explain to students that
they are going to make a card with a picture of a bouquet to celebrate
Mother’s Day. Next, distribute templates, crayons, scissors, glue and
construction paper. Help students read the sentence by pointing to each
word and saying it aloud. Ask students to trace the sentence. Next, ask
them to cut out the card, paste it onto construction paper and cut it
out again. Show them how to fold it, so that the part with the sentence
is facing upward. Then distribute the finger paints. Ask students to paint
green lines on the paper using their fingers to simulate flower stems. Have
students use their hands and the finger paint in different colors to create
flowers above the stems (see the picture of the finished product). Finally,
help students paint a small ribbon to finish their bouquet. Encourage
them to give the cards to their mothers as a Mother’s Day present.
