I. OBJECTIVES Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the
objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises, and
remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are
assessed using Formative Assessment strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content
and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly
objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. CONTENT demonstrates an understanding of the different theater skills, its
STANDARDS characteristics, specificities, specialization, and demands, as well
as its contribution to the development of a theatrical production.
B. PERFORMANCE devises scene works and Theater improvisations that will utilize
STANDARDS the different areas or departments of theatrical performance

A. ELICIT Good day, class!
Good day, Sir!

Okay. So, before we start, I would

like to remind each one another
that despite the many challenges
you’re facing right now or within
this past few day, always put in
mind that we have a God to lean
on. Okay?
Yes sir, thank you!

With that, I would like Mr.

Gayabano to lead a prayer for us. Is
it okay for you?
Yes sir.
Panginoon po naming Diyos.
Maraming salamat sa magandang
pagkakataon na ipinagkaloob niyo
po sa amin Nanatili ang aming
hiram na buhay at lakas na galing
sa Iyo. Dahil ito sa Iyong awa at
patnubay sa amin Purihin at
dakilain ang Iyong Banal na
Pangalan. Narito mag-aaral po
kami ng mga kaalaman Bigyan
niyo po kami ng talas ng pag-iisip
Upang mabilis naming matutunan
ang lahat na aming pag-aaralan
Lagi mo kaming puspusin ng mga
karunungan Na magagamit namin
hindi lamang sa aming araw-araw
na pamumuhay Higit sa lahat sa
aming mga paglilingkod sa Iyo.
Umaasa kami Ikaw ang aming
makakasama sa buong panahon ng
aming pag-aaral. Patawarin mo
kami sa lahat ng aming mga
kasalanan Hinihiling po namin ang
lahat ng ito Sa pangalan ni Hesus
Na aming Dakilang Tagapagligtas.
Amen.

Thank you very much, Mr.

Gayabano.
So, I introduced myself to you last
week, and I know most of you have
forgotten my name, so I am Angelo
David A. Corales, a third-year
Bachelor of Culture and Arts
Education student, and I will be
your pre-service teacher. Again, it
was a pleasure to meet you all.
It is nice meeting you sir.

By the way, do you still remember

our topic last meeting?
(everyone) Yes sir!
So, can you give me something you
have learned last time regarding to
our topic? Mina, you have
something to say?

Yes sir, I would like to share what

I have learned last meeting. Our
topic last time is all about the
Background Dramatic Criticism.

Very Good! So, what Dramatic

Criticism again?

Drama criticism is the

comparison,analysis,interpretation,
and/or evaluation of dramatic
works. Various reference works
describe literary criticism as
essentially an opinion, supported
by evidence, relating to theme,
style, setting, historical context, or
political context.

That’s right! Again, drama

criticism provides a foundation
upon which to become more deeply
immersed in at least one aspect of
theatrical work and might spark a
reconsideration of an author's
intentions when they wrote a
particular play. Criticism might
deepen one's appreciation for a
play, encourage a reader to seek
out a production, or make a
connection between a dramatic
work and another author with
whom
the reader is familiar.
B. ENGAGE Okay class. Let’s move on from
that. So, I have here several
pictures to show.

1.

2.

3.

Okay there. So, can we have

someone from the class to identify
these pictures?

(Pick from students who are

raising their hands)
Okay, Hella.

Sir, for me, I identified the first

picture as lights, the next one is
stage, and lastly, is stage designs. I
hope I am right sir.

Yes, definitely, you have it

perfectly!

My other question is, how are these

relevant to each other? Anyone?
(Pick from students who are raising
their hands)
Okay, Martin.

As Hella mentioned earlier, the

first image is lights, which can be
related to stage, which is the
second image, and finally, stage
design because it incorporates the
use to come up a stage show or
design for an event.

Perfect! Wow, you got it right.

Thank you, Martin!

So basically, These three pictures

create a designs in stage for a event
which its integrate a lights and
design.
C. EXPLORE Before we begin, May I ask you
class, what do you know about
designing a stage ?

Yes, Gianne you have something to

say?

Yes, sir, in designing a stage, I

believe that sets, costumes, sound,
and lighting must all serve the
play's targets.

Exactly! You are correct. So, class,

keep in mind that these are the
elements in designing stage,
following design stage needs:

1. set and props

2. Lighting
3. Music or Sound
4. Costume

So, Gianne what is Set and Props?

For me the set props are the large

movable items not built into the
set. Generally this is the furniture
or “sittables” and would include
things like chairs, tables, rugs,
appliances, barrels, trunks, or large
rocks.

That’s Right! Set and Props are the

items held or used by actors
onstage to make the action more
realistic. But take note class, some
naturalistic performances use many
props but when staging drama you
should question what is really
necessary.

(one of the student recite)

Yes sir, I believed that there are
props or sets that must be
appropriate or interconnected with
the play's story or theme.

Exactly Mr Gayabano. Very Good.

Let’s move on from that. How
about the Lighting in theatre.
(the teacher will pick one of the
students)

Okay, Hella what is lighting?

The Theatre stage lighting Sir is

designed to make the stage
performance visible to the
audience.

Very Good! Basically, The light is

used to draw focus to the character
or element it is highlighting and
can be used to separate a character
from the back drop and characters
around them often for an important
piece of dialog or to emphasise the
action, emotion, or expression of
the character.

Next is Music, what is music class?

(the teacher pick one of the student) (students raised hands)

Okay, Mr Romy can you give the

definition of Music?

Sir Music is a form of theatrical

performance that combines songs,
spoken dialogue, acting and dance
and can reveal the inner emotional
life of a character, foreshadow a
vicious attack or budding love, or
comment on the action onstage.

Correct, Mr Romy, which is why

hear sad or cheerful tunes in a
Theater play can sometimes affect
our emotions.

Finally, the final part of the design

process is costume, therefore Miss
Racquel, what does costume mean
to you?

For me, sir, a costume is the

clothing used by actors in a play,
film, or movie, or by someone to
disguise themselves as someone
else. Costumes are unique pieces
of costume on stage by actors to
help dramatic gestures and
interpretations.

That’s right! Miss Racquel,

Costumes are one of many tools the
director has to tell the story.
Costumes communicate the details
of a character's personality to the
audience, and help actors transform
into new and believable people on
screen.
D. EXPLAIN Since we have already discussed
the Elements in designing stage, I
know that you are now ready to
apply it. Don’t worry because this
will be a group task.

Before that, I will be going to

group you into 6.

(students were grouped)

(teacher will assign numbers by
sequence from 1-6)

I'd like you to draw a stage that

includes all of the design stage
elements. Continuing to follow
then, paste in the black board. You
have 10-15 minutes to complete it.

(the students do the task)

Okay, times up. Preparation is

over. Please all the Leaders will
paste you work in the blackboard.

(The leaders will paste the work in

blackboard)

Okay, great class! After examining

your drawings, I believe you have
all integrated the elements in the
designing stage. Good job! I am
quite pleased with all of your
performances; lets proceed.
E. ELABORATE So, before we end our discussion
for today. I know you are now
ready to apply it by group but this
task will be individually done.

Instruction:
You are task to create a stage
design incorporating the different
elements in designing stage. Draw
and color in the ¼ Illustration
board.

The deadline will be on (given

date). Late submissions will be
marked lower than the students
who submitted on time.

Okay. First, do you have any

question?
None sir.
Okay that’s good.

So, who will give now the recap or

the summary of the things that we
have discussed today?

Keith.
To summarize, sir, we've started
identifying the images you've
provided us, which include lights,
stage, and stage designs, all of
which come together to produce a
Theater play stage design.
Secondly, The elements of stage
design discussed are set and props,
lighting, music or sound, and
costume.

Excellent Keith! I assume that

everyone is already familiar with
our lesson today.

Last question, what is the relevance

and importance of stage design?
(student raised hands)

Okay Angelo, Proceed.

Sir I think in order to set
Theatrical stage apart from others,
stage design is one of the first
aspects to consider. It is a critical
component to a successful event,
bringing vision and theme to life.
Depending on the type of event we
are having, there are many
options for the
design of your stage.
Great! The stage design helps show
where and when the story of a play
takes place, while also conveying
meaning to the audience.
F. EVALUATE To determine your learning competency, I will be giving you a 20points
Essay type exam. (See Appendix A) and a practicum applying the
elements in designing stage (See Appendix B).
G. EXTEND As you prepare for your exam and
practicum, I want you to review the
Elements in designing stage.
Yes, sir we will.

Thank you for your cooperation

class, I hope you have learned
something, and enjoyed the
discussion. Please pick up trash in
your area and dispose of it
properly, as well as properly
arrange your
chairs. Take care and Good luck!
Class dismissed.
(all students)
Thank you, sir!
