TOPIC-LEVEL OUTCOMES (TLO) TO BE ASSESSED: Students shall be able to demonstrate the following topic-learning outcomes:
TLO: Describe and solve problems involving the motion of the particles by defining its displacement, velocity, and acceleration and determining
the rectangular components of a particle, and the tangential and normal components of acceleration.

Solve the following problem showing your complete solutions on separate sheets of paper. Emphasize your
final answers and write it also on the table provided with the corresponding units. Submit your work in pdf or
jpeg format. Round off all your values to 3 decimal places.

1. A particle moves on the path y = 3.6x2, where x and y are in meters. Its velocity has a constant x component
of 2 m/s. Assume that the particle is at the origin at the start of the motion. Solve for the components of a.)
displacement, b.) velocity, and c.) acceleration in terms of time. (Use rectangular components)

2. A particle moves on the path y = 4x2 with constant speed v = 10 m/s, where x and y are in meters. What is the
normal component of the acceleration at the point where y = 1 m? (Use normal & tangential components)

3. A particle moves along the path whose equation is r = 2θ m. If the angle θ = t2 rad, determine the magnitude
and direction (express in terms of angle, show illustration) of the velocity of the particle when θ is 60°. (Use
polar components)
