III. Objectives:
Given the necessary materials, at least 75% of the students with 75% proficiency should be
able to:
IV. Procedures
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Opening Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Checking of Assignment
B. Drill
Identify the secants, tangents, segments, Chord, Radius, and Diameter
C. Review
In our previous topic we illustrate the Secants, Tangents Segments, and Sector of a
Circle. Is anyone can differentiate the Secants, Tangents Segments, and Sector of a
Circle?
a. Motivation
Show an empty circle and let the student put on the parts of circle that they knew
a student who got all the parts will have an additional point on their quiz.
b. Lesson Proper
1. Guided Questions:
E. Generalization
Properties of tangents
1. If a line is tangent to a circle, then it is perpendicular to the radius.
2. If two tangents are drawn to a circle from the same exterior point, then the tangent
segments are congruent.
Tangent Circle
In a plane, two circles can intersect in two points, one point, or no point. Coplanar
circles that intersect in one point are called tangent circles. Coplanar circles that have a
common center are called concentric circles.
Schools Division Office
If the circles are not tangent, they can share a tangent line, called a common tangent.
Common tangents can be internally tangent and externally tangent too.
