Conflicts on Online Classes as the New Normal Learning system: Unneeded Change in the
Educational System?

What is Flexible/Online Learning as a Permanent Learning mode? This is the solution

found by the education department to combat the spreading virus COVID – 19. As online
learning became the learning system that students got used to, it became the learning system that
most students became comfortable with. But this kind of learning system has downsides to it and
is why this system needs to be stopped as soon as things get back to normal with COVID – 19
taken care of.
Online Learning is not an effective learning system for most students because it does not
give proper discipline to the students’ learning experience. There are many downsides in online
learning, the main downside is the lack of structure. Self-disciplined students can benefit from
the flexibility and convenience of online classes, but the lack of formal structure can be a pitfall
for undisciplined or unmotivated students. You don't have a standard meeting time and you don't
have regular, direct interaction with teachers and peers who can remind you of assignments and
push you to work harder. Online students who lack self-discipline can fall behind on
assignments, fail to study adequately by test deadlines and ultimately suffer because of a lack of
initiative in engaging instructors via e-mail or phone according to Kokemuller, N. (2023). With
students who lack discipline and motivation can get the schools in serious trouble because the
students who graduate in online classes has some students who lack discipline and motivation
who would just search their answers on the internet and get done with small effort making them
be in the losing side as they only get the easy way out in answering their exams and activities.
The students will not learn anything with this method and not get the education they need to be
suited to when they graduate from school. This would waste the purpose of school, their time and
the money they pay for their tuitions.
Another issue in online learning is the lack of the gadgets of students and the poor
internet connection in the Philippines. Based on a study focusing on financial difficulties,
children and adolescents’ lack of access to gadgets and data load for online classes as well as
food inadequacy. The most common stressor in the family life of children and adolescents was
financial difficulty due to loss of income or jobs, according to Save the Children. With this
problem in question the economy of the country is now part of the picture. With the weak
economy of the country, it will be hard for the online class students who have parents who are
not paid enough to provide the basic needs of the students online learning mode which are
gadgets and a stable internet connection. Without these two being provided to the students they
will not be able to have a comfortable time in attending an online class and will also be a
challenge to listen to the teacher. This will affect the motivation and commitment of the student
in a negative way. Also, the learning space of the student needs to be comfortable and clean for
the student to focus on their school. The lack of a comfortable learning space can affect the
students’ concentration in completing tasks given by the school.

The problems stated above are not the only problems that are present in online classes.
The stated issues are the ones that the majority of students are experiencing. The online class
needs to be concluded and go back to the traditional face to face system of learning. In where the
students have the capacity to interact personally with the teacher and co students, with this
learning can be easier and not challenging for the students to attend their classes. I hope my
argument is valid and given consideration. Thank you.
