The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
A role of being a student is to be the hope of every family for that child to pass. They
became the pride of every family, for getting high grades, honors and medals. That is when
students began to feel the heavy pressure that their family gave them. Their family gets ashamed
when a student got a low grade. That is why they pushed the student to study that they did not
care of how the child feels at all. On the other hand, a family that is always fine with an average
score, as long as the children passed and graduate, is healthier than the pressured one. This is one
of the reasons why students nowadays began to lose their care and started getting tired, not
thinking about their future that they start losing their way because of one goal, and that is to
prove something to their parents. Somehow, other children may think that way, but there are still
some who think that this is an opportunity for them to strive harder for the best. Proving that
their limit can be extended and their purpose is not only to pass and graduate but to achieve their
goals in life. And this is one of the many reasons why education plays an important role in our
life, everything depends on learning.

To be successful, we need to study and educate ourselves. It is also a way of maximizing

our intellectual thinking. Education could give us the ability to write and read. It can also boost
our self-esteem and teach us how to be well-mannered. Nowadays, this pandemic caused
hindrances of having a quality education, but our government thinks of a new way on how we
could continue learning even in our homes. They introduced blended learning/distance learning
in which students will have three choices; modular approach, online learning, or mixed approach.
With today’s generation, most of us were into technology, no way that students would not
choose online learning. Online Learning is one of the approaches where students need gadgets
such as smartphones or laptops in order to cope up with everyday classes. It is a kind of virtual
face-to-face session with students and teachers. Although, Online Learning has its great
advantages like not needing to commute daily, staying at home, and connecting with your peers
and teachers but it can also affect students Academic Performance.

Virtual learning, also known as Online learning or Distance Learning has been
transforming the face of the education system for quite some time. Now, it is fast becoming an
integral aspect, and a common tool, in the wider aspect of higher education, as a result of the
COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from presenting alternative platforms for the modern time, learning
through online gives the learners to discover and improve their skills. To make an effective way
improving learning skills for students to be employed and make the teachers or other school
employees better qualified in working to a modern time where in social platforms are more
usable. Distance learning has made education more accessible to broader groups of people. It is a
convenient way to gain work experience while obtaining a senior high school or other vocational
training. Numerous organizations, such as the military, large corporations, and government
agencies depend on distance education to train service members and employees. Undoubtedly,
education or specialized training is a requirement for most highly paid jobs. The availability of
the Internet has raised the number of online courses and to stay relevant, schools have to
embrace digital.

Most students today are taking advantage of distance/online learning programs. Working
professionals, high school students, and even traditional college students register in virtual
learning classes. Various types of technology are used to develop online learning. Special
computer programs like the Pinnacle Learning Management system, high-speed Internet, and
webcam broadcasting technology are just a few of the excellent technologies used in distance
learning. As a result, learning opportunities that never existed for people living in distance or
rural region. Students usually interact with teachers and other students using video conferencing,
satellite, and Internet technology. Choosing a Distance Learning School/Distance learning has
been in existence for centuries through traditional mail and other creative means, but online
education is still a comparatively new field. Even though the technology is complex, the
educational mission and academic standards are the same as in traditional education: providing
quality education. Various online schools do particularly that, while others are only degree mills
or outright frauds. And of course, there’s plenty of variety in the middle.

Benefits of Online Learning All levels of the education system can be improved through
online courses, as students can study at their own speed and work with course materials that are
accustomed to their needs and learning abilities. So, in the midst of the pandemic, they will gain
knowledge and keep themselves safe, not only for themselves but also for their families. As a
result, our students and teachers will benefit greatly from this new protocol because they will be
better able to keep themselves safe and will not have to worry about their health. Even if we
believe that online learning is difficult due to the presence of various issues, such as unstable
internet connections, it still has advantages, there are reasons why we are in this situation.
Spending time with our families, for example. There are things that can truly make us happy.
However, due to the unprepared situation of sudden online learning, it is difficult because the
student is not prepared with this new protocol, but students cannot do anything because this law
is also for our health and safety. And as the DEPED say It would also be a waste for the students
if they missed a year of school. Some students were forced to joined Online Class, they borrow
phones or go to the nearest computer shop. Although some schools were giving free load, it is
still not enough because some working students cannot do and pass their school works on time.

The Online Learning affects the Academic Performance of the Grade 11 Tvl students
Because if the factors of online Learning affects the academic performance of grade 11 tvl
ninniku students,
then they will fail to their academic performance

Significance of the Study

The results of the study will greatly benefit the following:
To the Participants
The result of the study will be a great benefit to students to know more about the factors
that can affect their academic performance in online learning and how to overcome it.
To the Society
The teachers will also be a beneficiary of this study so that they will be more considerate
to their students they faced one of the factors.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

The research study focuses activities of the students. In connection to that, the researchers
included related literature and studies about the factors that may affect the students’ academic
performance. For this study, respondents came from the grade 11 senior high school department
in Japan Philippines Institute of technology Muzon Campus. Grade 11 students in section
Ninniku served as the respondents of the study
This study aims to discover the Factors of Online Learning affecting the Grade-11 Tvl
Ninniku Students in Japan Philippines Institute of Technology-Muzon Campus.
 This study does not include the other students from other section and other branch of
Japan Philippines Institute of Technology.

Definitions of Terms

 Online Learning- education that takes place over the internet

 Ashamed- feeling guilt or disgrace
 Well-mannered- being polite
 Hindrance- state of being interfered with, held back or slowed down
 Commute- to travel back and forth regularly
 Integral Aspect- something very important or necessary
 Midst- central part or point
 Protocol- an original draft, minute, or record of a document or transaction
