III. Instructional Procedure

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Drill (Flash Card)

Read and multiply the following numbers.

(This will be done with a twist. The learners will head
counts and the teacher will pick any number randomly
to answer the given factors.)
9X0=0 5X1=5 7X7=49
9x0= 5x1= 7x7= 6X2=12 4X3=12
6x2= 4x3=

2. Review

Change the following percent to decimal.

1. 7% 3. 9% 5. 2.5% 1. 0.07 3. 0.09 5. 0.025

2. .12 4. 0.15
2. 12% 4. 15%
3. Motivation

Show a picture of women in the market.

This is Aling Marites who sells an avocado at Hinoba-

an Public Market. She sells it 800 peso per sack. And
the other woman is Aling Juana who wanted to buy the

B. Developmental Activities.

1. Presentation

Allan, who took their 50-item quarter examination,

got 96% of it correctly. What is his score?
Who took the examination?
How many items did he take in quarter examination?
How many percent of correct answer he got from the
examination?
What do you think Allan’s score from the test?
Let’s have :

50
x.96
300
+450
48.00
Allan got 48 as his score from the test.
From the given 50 and 96% let 50 be our Base and
96% as our Rate and this 48 is our solution, the
percentage.
Let us remember in finding the percentage in a given
problem we use the formula of P=B x R.
Let us have another problem. To make you this
problem easily to solve. I will share you some tricks.
Do you want to know what tricks do I have?

Present another problem.

Twenty-five percent of Daisy’s twenty potted plants Given: 25% peppers , 20 potted plants
are peppers. How many potted plants are peppers? Asked: Percentage
To solve this problem here is the first trick/step.
1. Identify what are given and asked in the problem. P=BXR

P= 20x 25%
Since, we have identified the given the 2nd step is
2. Write the formula in finding the percentage? P= 20x .25
3rd step, Substitute the given to the formula.

4th step, is to change the percent to decimal.

5th or last step, Solve for percentage by getting the

product.

20
x.25
100 5 potted plants are peppers.
+40
5.00

How many potted plants are peppers?

Now let’s have the group activity.

( It takes 10 to 15 minutes)

A. Setting of standards
B. Grouping ( Divide the class into four groups)
C. Distribution of activity cards
D. Performing the Activity
E. Publishing

Guide Questions:

1. What are the given and what is asked.

2. What is formula in finding percentage?
3.Substitute the given to the formula.
4. Change the rate or percent to decimal.
5. Solve the percentage.

Group 1.
What number is 12% of 116?
Group 2.
What is 40% of 90?
Group 3.
25% of 120 is what number?
Group 4.
What number is 20% of 130?

3. Processing the activity

Check their published work on the board.

From your activity what is the first thing we do?
The 2nd step?
3rd step?
4th step?
5th step?
We find the percentage of the given problem by
following steps:
We follow these steps to find the percentage. 1. Identify what are given and asked in the problem.
2. Write the formula in finding the percentage?
Generalization: 3. Substitute the given to the formula.
4. Change the percent to decimal.
How do we find the percentage in the given problem? 5. Solve for percentage by getting the product.

4. Reinforcing the Concept and Skills

Present another Problem.
