Mini project: Culture in language learning and teaching

Requirements:

1. 2-4 students in a group

2. Theme: discovering cultural differences in one particular aspect: ethnographic techniques in
the classroom
3. Methodology:
 Interview with representatives of a given culture
 Analysis of a selected conversation or group discussion (see a lecture on discovering
similarities and differences)
 Analysis of a chosen text, for example an add or a poster (see a lecture on visual literacy)
4. PPP should include:
 Introduction: background to the problem analysed
 Methodology: questions asked in an interview
or
Visuals on which the analysis was based
or
Samples of the conversation
or
Samples of language material compiled to conduct an analysis
 Results
 Conclusions
5. Duration of the presentation: about 20 minutes; number of slides : max 25
