Lecture (1) units, two meetings/week (one synchronous)
Geomatics employs the following methods and tools to examine a solution to a problem:
1. Earth Observations
2. Geographic Information System
3. Location
4. Global Positioning System/Global Navigation Satellite Systems
5. Earth Models
6. Spatial Analysis
7. Cartography
8. Map projections
9. Raster Analysis
10. Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry
11. Geovisualization
12. Web GIS

The lecture course will focus on developing knowledge on the theory, definitions, applications and
workflows of the topics mentioned. Having a good background in CAD, Surveying, Statistics,
Mathematics and Computer Programming will guide the student to better outcomes.

FIRST SEMESTER 2021 (2101)
Lab (3) units, two meetings/week (ideally with one
synchronous from August to December 2021)
The laboratory class will focus on the tools and techniques to create a computer
generated building model, and applied tools for working with computer model
exploring maps and simulation. Generated outputs are done by group with
laboratory reports while map outputs are submitted individually. Major projects
are submitted as a group.

At least 11 and two projects (Midterm and Finals) this should cover the following:
1. My First GIS Map: Tools, Data, and processes
2. Adding Vector, Raster, and web service Layers using a GIS software
3. On-screen digitization: Points, Lines and Polygons
4. Geo-refencing and Projecting digital maps
5. Spatial Data Analysis:
6. Building Cartographic Maps using a software Map layout
7. Midterm Project: Map Gallery Presentation
8. Land Use Classification using Semi-Automatic Classification Plug-in
9. Thematic Mapping of Risk: an HEVR application
10. My first online Web Map
11. Building Web Map Applications
12. Telling stories through Maps using Story Maps
13. Final Project: Online Map Gallery Presentation

All laboratory exercises should be generated using QGIS and ArcGIS in an A3 sized paper.
