II. COURSE DESCRIPTION


In this course, you will get a working knowledge of basic principles of testing procedures
which can be used in second and foreign language programs. Application of concepts is the main
goal of this course. You will learn to apply language testing principles to English language teaching
situation you are in. We will be looking at actual tests and testing procedures, working with actual
data, and have some class sessions for calculating analyses of test results. On the second half of the
semester, you are required to develop your own test batteries, try them out and analyze the results.
Besides, you will also practice assessing four English language skills in our secondary education.

III. OBJECTIVE
By the end of this course, the students are expected to:
 be able to distinguish the concepts of testing, assessment, measurement, and evaluation
 figure out approaches to language testing
 figure out classroom language tes
 be able to discuss characteristics of good tests
 be able to assess four English language skills
 be able to design different testing exercises to measure students’ learning and competence
