name, please raise your right hand…Trainee #1……Trainee #2

Let me just give you a brief background of the training center.

(Power Point) (school)

 is an accredited TESDA training center that provides quality technical education and
skills development, and together with TESDA, helps in the promotion of middle-level
manpower development.

Any questions/queries regarding the training center?

(None)
Okay, to familiarize yourselves with the areas here in this training center (show PPT –shop
layout), let me show you the center’s lay-out. I know most of you want to know first where
the CR is, so it is on your right, beside the Practical Work Area.
(Pray)
And as I start with our session, let’s thank God for the opportunity to be able to attend this
training……..Amen.

Administer Pre-Assessment
To effectively facilitate and guide you through the learning process, I need to know a little bit
about you, your background, your skill experiences, if there’s any, among other things. So
please accomplish these tools---Data gathering instrument, Self-Assessment Checklist, and the
Pre-Test. These will help me measure the level of your knowledge and learning. You have 10
minutes to accomplish it.

Okay, done? Please pass it to the front…. Thank you.

Tomorrow, you will be informed of the results of the pre-assessment you did a while ago.

(Back to PPT)
Meantime, let me continue with the overview of the training, its context and principles…

So, the delivery approach of the training we are conducting is called CBT or Competency-
Based Training which focuses on the development of the learner as a result of the training---
meaning, it emphasizes most on what the learner can actually do.
Why this approach? So that Education and training can keep pace with technology and
customer requirement.

10 Principles of CBT (read each one and explain 3)

 3)Training delivery is individualized and self-paced ---- Trainees are treated as
individual learners given their different characteristics, learning styles and training needs.
 4)Training is based on work that must be performed ---- Learning is based on actual
industry practice
 8)The system allows Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) --- current competencies
acquired before training can be recognized and validated through a process.

CBT is delivered this way… (PPT of Training Delivery)

A trainee who enters a program is given the proper orientation where the roles of the trainer
and the trainee are explained (as I will do later). Training needs are identified and learning
activities will be organized based on it.

Trainee then selects competency and receive instruction and the Competency-Based Learning
Materials are introduced by the trainer. In doing all the learning activities, Achievement
Chart and Progress Report are used to monitor the learning processes of the trainee then
trainee receives assistance when necessary and trainer gives feedback. When the trainee
satisfactorily achieved the learning processes, trainee attempts to do the task to demonstrate
mastery while the trainer observes and rates the trainee. Trainee also rates his/her own
performance. When the trainee satisfactorily performed competency, he/she then moves to
Institutional Assessment. After passing the Institutional Assessment, the trainee is
recommended to undergo the National Assessment, then exits the program.

Roles of Trainer and Trainee (explain 3 roles of trainer and 2 roles of trainee)
 Trainer as Facilitator – will guide the trainees and assist them during the learning
processes
 Trainer as Counselor – can give you advices when necessary regarding your problems
or issues while undergoing the training or the learning activities
 Trainer as Role-Model – should act/perform accordingly as the trainer will be
emulated by the trainees
 Trainees - learn at their own rate within program guidelines –learning is self-paced
 Trainees - are responsible for what they learn and when they learn it – moving to
the next task only after mastering the task he/she currently working on

Any questions? (None)

Alright. I have mentioned about the CBLM (Competency-Based Learning Materials), so

what is it all about? (SHOW PPT)
(SHOW NEXT PPT) FORMS OF LEARNING MATERIALS are…
And the CBLM Materials include……

For the BPP NCII, there are 9 CBT areas or workstations (PPT)….

In the CBT, there’s an evaluation system and this is not numerical. This is done by stating if
you are COMPETENT OR NOT YET COMPETENT. For NYC, it does not mean you failed but it
means at this point you need further mastering of the skills and give you chance to be
competent. So your Attitude, Skills, and Knowledge are very important in your evaluation.

And now, for the results of your Pre-Assessment…

Trainee # 1, according to the data gathered from the instruments we used, you have prior
learning on the first 2 modules of qualification. So please submit tomorrow any certificate to
validate your prior learning; however, Trainee # 2, is not yet knowledgeable on the
qualification.

So before we end this session, may I ask if you have any questions? If none, I will see you all
tomorrow for the lesson proper and move to the next learning activities.

DAY 2
Good morning trainees!. I will check the attendance now…

(Facilitate Learning Sessions)

As I mentioned yesterday, Trainee #2 has no prior knowledge so she will undergo study of the
first core competency for (qualification). So please proceed to the contextual learning area
and for 30 minutes, read and study Information Sheet 1.1 and answer the questionnaire and
do the self-check after.

For Trainee #2, we will start our lesson on the Core Competencies (PowerPT) and for today,
we will study Preparing and Presenting Gateaux, Tortes, and Cakes, focusing on Learning
Outcome #4.3, Cutting portion control to minimize wastage…

Meanwhile, please read Information Sheet 4.1.1 and answer the Self-check for 10 mins.

Are you done? Did you understand the lesson well?

Trainee: (Not much)

Okay, to aid you in understanding LO#4.3, please watch the video attentively…..

So how was the video? Did you find it helpful?

Trainee: (Yes, but we need to see more visual aids)

Okay, I have here additional informations…

Show PPT

I will show you how to do it…prepare props and TRAINER DEMONSTRATES

(PPT: Good luck)

And now, let me see how you do it in 10 mins…it’s your turn…TRAINEE DEMONSTRATES

Trainer observes, checks…

With a few hesitations on your part, as I observed, you still satisfactorily performed the task!
Alright. Congratulations, Trainee #1, you may undergo the INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT!

DAY 3

Good morning trainees, for today, I will conduct the Institutional Assessment for trainee #1 on
the core competencies of BPP. But before that, let me check the attendance…

Three methods will be conducted to assess you. First, please answer the WRITTEN EXAM and
you are given 30 minutes to finish it.

Time is up. (DEMO) Next is you need to perform the task listed in the task sheet and you are
given 3 hours to finish the task. Please proceed to the Practical Work Area.

Okay. (QUESTIONING) Based on what you have so far accomplished, I need to ask the
following questions to further determine your knowledge:
Question #1:
Trainee answers:
Question #2:
Trainee answers:

Feedbacking:
Written Exam – Your answers in your written exam are about 75% correct.
Demo – I have observed that you did not implement the OHS but you were able to achieve the
objectives of the given task.
Oral Questioning – You have answered the questions satisfactorily.

So, with these results, I consider you to be competent already. Since this is the last Core for
(qualification), I will now recommend you to undergo the National Assessment.
Congratulations!

(CONDUCT OF TRAINING EVALUATION)

But before you go, please answer The Training Session Evaluation Form. This would help me
improve or enhance the conduct of the training and the training sessions.
