Solve each of the following simultaneous linear equations by using substitution method.

1. There are 14 students in a class. The number of boys is 6
more than girls. What is the number of boys and girls in the

of flour is 19 kg, what is the mass of each packet of sugar
and flour?
5. Maria is 24 years older than his son now. Three years ago,

11. A storey book costs RM 9 less than a novel. Julia bought 5
storey books and 8 novels. She paid RM 200 to the cashier
and received a balance of RM 11. What is the price of a

On a particular day, x adults and y children attended the
exhibition. The amount collected that day was RM1475 and
the number of adults is more than the number of children
by 250. Find the value of x and y.

12. The price of a packet of nasi lemak sold in a shop is RM x
while the price of a packet of nasi kandar is RM y. Fatimah
