Objectives:

1. To test the yield of the lettuce including weight, height, width, and root length.
1.1 Since we are determining the over-all yield of lettuce, we should test the results of
introducing the combined system to the production of lettuce by measurements of weight,
height, width and root length.
BASED ON THE STUDY OF MARWA M. ALI, ET AL:
 The root length increases with increasing flow rate, the root length increased from
17.17 to 19.13 cm after 50 days from transplanting with increasing flow rate from
1.0 to 2.0 L h-1 in hydroponic system and increased from 17.45 to 19.56 cm after
50 days from transplanting with increasing flow rate from 0.5 to 1.5 L h-1 in
aeroponic system.
 The highest values of fresh and dry mass of shoot were 290.84 and 39.41 g plant-
1 were found with aeroponic system, while, the lowest values of fresh and dry
mass were 134.28 and 17.52 g plant-1 were found with hydroponic system.
 The highest values of fresh and dry mass of root were 96.38 and 11.87 g plant-1
were found with aeroponic system, while, the lowest values of fresh and dry mass
of root were 73.55 and 8.75 g plant-1 were found with hydroponic system.
 The total nutrients uptake values were higher in aeroponic system than those in
hydroponic system. The average nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and
magnesium uptakes were 3.29, 1.25, 2.73, 0.50 and 0.44 % and 2.13, 0.82, 2.24,
0.43 and 0.40 % for aeroponic and hydroponic system, respectively.
 The average nitrate content in aeroponic system was 155.52 mg plant-1 , while,
the average nitrate content in hydroponic system was 113.73 mg plant-1 .
 The average water use efficiency in hydroponic system was 2.22 kg m-3 , while,
the average water use efficiency in aeroponic system was 3.45 kg m-3
1.2 As we gather all the data about the production of lettuce, we can use this as data for
comparison in separated systems as reviewed from the existing studies.
2. To compare the combined system to the separated setups of aeroponics and hydroponics
considering the same plant growing conditions of lettuce.
2.1 Since we are comparing the combined over to separated systems, we should consider
the same conditions as utilized by the existing research to know the difference over this
type of systems.
 50 days from transplanting
 The average nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium uptakes
 Water usage
 Nitrate content
 flow rate from 1.0 to 2.0 L and 0.5 to 1.5 L
3. To determine the over-all performance of the combined system of aeroponics and
hydroponics.
3.1 In this objective we should observe the over-all performance of the combined system
in terms of efficiency and the maintainability of the system.
 This involves power consumption, water consumption, and nutrients intake of the system.
 Determining when is the need of maintenance of the combined system.
3.2 We would also consider the effect of the combined system to the yield of lettuce in
determining the effectiveness of the integration of aeroponics and hydroponic system.
 We are aiming to know how a combined set-up be capable in plant growing
Objectives:

1. To develop an improved glass-waste processing machine that would consider safeness and
efficiency through compaction of glass.

1.1 To answer the question in the first problem statement we should develop a design which it is
improved, and the design consideration would be focused on the safeness and efficiency of the
machine.

BASED ON THE STUDY OF GONAH, ET AL.

 Based on our researched rrl, there are no existing crushing machines that gives fine
crushed materials and the design of their machine brings hazard to the operators. So we
aim to develop a design wherein we would focus on the crushing machine’s safeness and
production of pulverized end product.

2. To compare the performance of the improved glass-waste processing machine to existing glass
crusher in terms of cost-effectiveness, performance, and power consumption.

2.1 We will determine the cost-effectivity, the performance and the over-all power consumption
of the machine and will compare it to the results in the existing machines.

BASED ON THE STUDY OF SULAIMAN, ET AL.

 One of the studies we cited discussed that using a commercialized crushing machine is
costly because of some mechanism that is part of it. So we decided to develop a design of
compact glass crusher made from cheaper materials and compare its performance.

3. To test different types of glass-waste material to be pulverize.

3.1 To determine the best glass waste material which will be the basis of efficiency of the
processing machine. This could generate a significant purpose of the product.
 Since we are dealing with the glass waste as a whole, their compositions have differences
so we need to identify which type of glass which is compatible for the crushing and
pulverization process.

Objectives:

1. To generate a calculated machine design that is efficient when it comes to converting PC and
WEEE to 3D filaments.

1.1 The researcher will consider the proper specification for an efficient conversion of source
material to 3D filaments by utilizing calculations used for machine design.
1.2 What are the required constraints based on recent studies for converting plastic into 3D
filaments.

2. To determine the usefulness of PC and WEEE as the raw materials for production of 3D
printer filaments.

1.1 We need to know how PC and WEEE be capable for use in 3D printing hence, it will
undergo series of testing related to an acceptable 3D printer filament.

3. To verify the efficiency of the Filament Making Extruding Machine that consider PC and
WEEE waste material.

1.1 After the series of design and fabrication process, we are eager to further test the actual
machine in terms of its efficiency these includes capacity, quality of the filament, power
consumption, etc.
