ASSISTED LIVING RETIREMENT COMMUNITY 2
From the case, Esther is suffering confusion and full-brown dementia, which means she
suffers from memory loss. Additionally, Windwood Acres is a small assisted living retirement
community with only two floors; that means Esther maybe around the facility or may have left if
there are no gates to confine them within the compound. To find Esther, it is a matter of looking
around the places within the community. If there are chances that she may have moved out, it is
significant to look outside the facility. However, from my understanding, the assisted living is
cautious when it comes to helping, supervision, and security; hence the best option is looking
There are things to consider in the future if Esther is going to stay for longer in my
community. First is safety. Esther's safety and protection is a paramount consideration since the
assisted living retirement community duty is to take care of such people. Esther may find herself
where she doesn’t recognize or make her panic; this may overwhelm her emotions and cause her
to take risks like forgetting the stair’s locations hence cause falls or injuries. Second is the
memory section that is not available in the community (Brookdale, n.d.). Esther needs peace of
mind, and this is difficult to achieve due to memory loss. I should include alert systems and daily
check-systems and employ trained and specialized workers who will be able to provide the right
care to Esther.
Lastly is health. I should consider designing dining plans specifically for people like
Esther. Dementia-friendly meals, flavorful meals, consistent seating, and regular meal times
render keeping a balanced and stable diet simpler than ever for seniors.
