Lean operations management

Lean operations is a methods for showing an association to zeroing in on giving more

noteworthy consumer loyalty while utilizing as couple of assets as could be expected. The goal

of lean activities is twofold: Making an incentive for clients and disposing of waste, (Levinson,

2018). Sustainable operations on the other hand concerns the practices, processes and systems

which firms create and produces results that are profitable using the resources available while

preserving or improving social or and natural environments, (Andersen, 2019). All lean

operations are in line with sustainable operations

There are several lean development principles that include waste elimination, knowledge

creation, fast delivery, build quality in, respect for customers, optimization of the process of

delivery. Sustainable operations management on the other hand include waste prevention, re use

of materials especially those of packaging, proper disposal of waste by incineration or use of

sanitary landfill for some materials, material minimization and recycling. (Kong, 2016). By

applying the principles of lean systems, one is automatically carrying out sustainable operations.

Waste elimination is an aspect of both lean principles and operations management. While

lean principles will focus on using materials available to the maximum, sustainable management

operations will reduce waste by varies methods. Conversion of waste to energy as a method of

energy recovery will reduce waste from the firm. Packaging components that are not

biodegradable can be used to provide energy to run some machinery. Respect for customers and

optimization od process of delivery in lean operations align with improved the social

environment as one of the reasons for carrying out sustainable operations management

Sustainable operations may be seen as expensive due to several aspects such as energy

recovery. This is there are very few articles that manage demonstrating and investigation of

SOM dynamic at key, strategic and operational levels that are significant for execution of these

choices. The point of this extraordinary issue is to help analysts and chiefs to comprehend the

methodologies, strategies and execution measures engaged with Sustainable operations

management choices and the exhibition measures and measurements through demonstrating and

investigation of Sustainable operations management, (Gunasekaran & Irani, 2014). The

sustainable operations is not an expensive if done in the correct way.
