Course Name: CARE OF MOTHER AND CHILD AT RISK OR WITH PROBLEMS {ACUTE OR CHRONIC}
Course Code: NCM 109
Time Allotment: 255 RLE HOURS
Credit Units: 5 units
Placement: Second Semester, BSN Level II
Pre-requisite: N107 Care of Mother, Child, Adolescent (Well Clients)
Course Description: Application of knowledge and abilities to deliver safe, high-quality, and holistic care to clients who are at risk or high-risk
during various stages of childbearing, including newborn, kids, and adolescents at various developmental stages, in hospital and community
settings.

Course Outcomes: At the end of this course, given a normal and high-risk mother and newborn, child, family, population group and community
in any health care setting, the learners will demonstrate safe, appropriate, and holistic care utilizing the nursing process.
1. Apply concept, theories and principles of sciences and humanities in the formulation and application of appropriate nursing care
during childbearing and childrearing years.
2. Provide safe, appropriate, and holistic care to individuals, families, population groups utilizing nursing process during childbearing
and childrearing years.
3. Apply evidence-based nursing practices in the care of mother and child.
4. Practice maternal and child nursing in accordance with existing laws, legal, ethical, and moral principles.
5. Communicate effectively in speaking, writing, and presenting using culturally appropriate language with children and families.
6. Document care of mother and child during the perinatal period accurately and comprehensively.
7. Work effectively in collaboration with inter, intra and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams in maternal and child care.
8. Practice beginning management and leadership skills using systems approach in the care of normal mother and child.
9. Discuss researchable problems in maternal and childcare.
10. Engage in lifelong learning with passion to keep current with national and global development in the care of the mother and child.
11. Demonstrate responsible citizenship and pride in being a Filipino in the practice of maternal and child nursing.
12. Apply techno-intelligent care systems and process in maternal and child nursing.
13. Adopt the nursing core values in the delivery of care to the mother and child.
14. Apply entrepreneurial skills in maternal and childcare.
