NOUN CONJUGATION (POSITIVE)

Pattern: Subject + Noun + 이다

이다 – to be (dictionary form)

입니다 - declarative form

입니까 - interrogative form


IS / AM /ARE

Ex. I am a student. Are you a student?


저는 학생입니다 (당신은) 학생입니까?

This is a pencil.
이것은 연필입니다

Polite Form

이에요 / 예요 – is the polite form of 입니다 / 입니까 (is, are, am, is it/is it?)

Rules:
Noun + 이에요 – ends with consonants
Noun + 예요 – ends with vowels

Ex. It is a whiteboard.
칠판이에요 (?)

It is a soap.
비누예요 (?)

POLITE FORM

아니에요 (DECLARATIVE / INTERROGATIVE)

S + N + 아닙니다 / 아닙니까

N + 아니에요

Ex:

I am not a student. You are not a student?


저는 학생이 아닙니다. 당신은 학생이 아닙니까?
