ACTIVITY Now that you have an idea of the viewing
materials, let us do this next activity:

As viewers and readers, it is important that we
should be aware whether the ideas being conveyed
in the things that we watch are truthful or real.

What do we mean by being truthful or what does


truthfulness mean?

Truthfulness-is the fact of being realistic or true


to life.
It gives the accuracy of the material and the main
idea that the material presents to the viewers that
brings the truth on what is happening before and
at the present time.

Activity 3 (group): Our discussion for today will focus on determining


What we Think it the truthfulness of ideas presented in the materials
is viewed.
Earlier, we unlocked some of the examples of
viewing materials, like the news flash, weather
report, and so on… but in order for us to be more
familiar with these viewing materials I want you to
group yourselves. Select a leader, a secretary, and
a reporter.

Your task as a group is to come up with your own


definition or understanding of the following words
or examples of viewing materials. Are we clear?

You will be given 10 minutes to come up with your


definitions. Afterwards each group will report their
definitions in front of the class. Your time starts
now.

viewing materials are so let us see if your
definitions are correct.

VIEWING MATERIALS
1. News Flash- single item of important news
that is aired separately and often interrupts
other programs.

News flash, as the name suggest, is a news


that just pops up or interrupts another
program in the TV. It is an important news
that is delivered quickly.

2. Weather Report-tells and foretells


weather conditions on a specific area.
Examples of weather report are the ones
presented by Kuya Kim, or reports brought
by the PAG ASA.

3. Internet-based program-a program that


is informative and can be accessed through
a website or the internet.
Examples are the programs brought by
DepEd that are accessed through the
website, online seminars.
4. Movie Clip/Trailer- a short clip from a
film that is usually released as a teaser of
an upcoming movie.

5. Documentary- research-based reporting


that deals with a specific topic and format.
Shows like Nat Geo and Animal Planet or
shows presented by Kara David.
These shows are commonly 30 minutes to
an hour long, and it talks about the ways
and life of someone, something or a group
of people.

6. Video- an electronic medium for the


recording, copying, playback, broadcasting,
and display of moving visual media.

everywhere, and these materials are sources of
information that we need in order to function or
make decisions.

Application I believe that we all understand what truthfulness


means and its importance in our lives. Let us
proceed to our next viewing activity.
