The following text is for questions 19-20
Solar energy evaporates exposed water from seas, lakes, and wet soil; the majority of this
evaporation takes place over the seas. Water is also released into atmosphere by the plants through
photosynthesis. During this process, known as evapotranspiration, water vapour rises into the atmosphere.
Clouds form when air becomes saturated with water vapour. The two major types of cloud
formation are stratified of layered grey cloud called cumulus clouds.
Precipitation as rain, or hail ensures that water returns to Earth’s surface in a fresh form. Some of
this rain, however, falls into the seas and is not accessible to humans. When rain falls, it either washes
downhill slopes or seeps underground; when snow and hail melts, this water may also sink into the
ground.
Rain fall also replenishes river water supplies, as does underground water. Snow fall may
consolidate into glaciers and ice sheets which, when they melt, release their water into the ground, into
stream or into the seas.

The following text is for question 21-23
Lightening is a sudden, violent flash of electricity between a cloud and the ground, or from cloud
to cloud. A lightening flash, or bolt, can be several miles long. It is so hot, with an average temperature o
f 34,0000 Centrigade, that the air around it suddenly expands with a loud blast. This is the thunder
we hear.
Lightening occurs in hot, wet storms. Most air is driven up to a great height. It forms a type of
cloud called cumulonimbus. When the cloud rises high enough, the moisture freezes and ice crystals and
snowflakes are formed. These begin to fall, turning to rain on the way down. This rain meets more moist
air rising, and it is the friction between them which produces static electricity. When a cloud is fully
charged with this electricity, it discharges it as a lightening flash.
22. What does the word “it” in paragraph two refer to?
A. Rain
B. Cloud
C. Water
D. Air
E. Snow

London – waving their arms in the air and dancing with 70,000 fans at London’s Wembley

William, 25, rocked his hips as a Canadian pop star Nelly Furtado belted out her song “Man
Eater” – to the embarrassment of his younger brother, Harry, who shook his head and laughed.
Harry, 22, said they asked Elton John to play “Candle in The Wind” the song he sang at Diana’s

The following text is for questions 27-28
To improve comfort and cleanliness at our school, a number of dustbin should be increased.
When we look at classroom, school corridors and school yard, there are papers, mineral water cups,
straws and napkins here and there. The condition of uncleanliness and discomfort really hinders learning
and teaching environment. Litters thrown carelessly cause disease, especially empty plastic cups or
glasses. They can be filled out with water coming from the rain. This can be places for dengue mosquitoes
to spread out. Besides, this rubbish can deteriorate the scene. Well-painted wall and green school yard do
not mean anything if litters are scattered everywhere.
I notice that most of the students in our school have responsibilities for their school environment.
They put their litters on the proper places. But some are not diligent enough to find the dustbin. The
number of dustbins in our school is not enough Most dustbins should be put beside each of steps, outside
the classroom and some more along the corridors. Probably one dustbin should be in every ten meters.
When students want to throw away their litters, they can find the dustbin easily.
When school is equipped with sufficient dustbins, we do not have problems of filth and discomfort
anymore. Our school will be very clean and become a nice place to study.

The following text is for questions 34-37
If you want to advance in your career, you will have to make some careful decision about which
jobs to take. Evaluate a job offer for the value it has to your career. It may mean sacrifice at first. You
may have to move to a different region or a different country to get a job that is right for you. You may
have to work late hours, at least temporarily. You might even have to take lower salary for a job that
offers you the experience that you need. But you should never accept a job if it is not related to your
career goals.
Accepting a job that is not within your career path will not give you the training or experience you
need or want. You will find yourself frustrated in such a position and consequently will not perform your
best. This will have an effect on the people around you who will not feel as if you are being part of the
team. The best advice is to think carefully before accepting any position and make sure the job is the one
you want to have.

Fast Food
Fast food nowadays is considered a normal part of one’s diet. People are not just eating out on
special occasions or weekends anymore. This means that they mostly eat fast food. However, is fast food
good for one’s health?
The popularity of fast food began in the U.S. in the 1940’s. Within a few years, fast food
operations popped up everywhere. The accelerated rise in fast food restaurants since the 1970’s has also
been implicated in a parallel rise in obesity and cancer during that same time period.
Fast food is highly processed with a wide array of additives. To ensure fast food’s low cost, the
fast food products are made with highly-processed ingredients to give it more shelf-life, to hold
consistency, and to enhance flavor. Fast food is altered from its original healthy form.
It is not the calories in fast food which damage health and waistline. It is the chemical additives
such as aspartame and MSG (monosodium glutamate). Studies show that the chemical additives lead to
weight and disease issues.
So, there is little nutritional value in fast food. Consequently, fast food simply feeds one’s hunger
and craving.
43.“…… fast food simply feeds one’s hunger and craving.” (last paragraph)
The underlined word can be best replaced by ….
