Calibration & control of Measuring

1. Objective :
To control the precision of the various measurement & monitoring devices
2. Scope:
The procedure is applicable all measurement & monitoring devices in the process.
3. Responsibility:
Maintenance Officer, QC Officer and Production Officer
4. Procedure :
a. Monitoring and Measuring devices like Digital Thermometer, Digital Brix meter, weighing balances,
etc. are classified under "Monitoring and Measurement Devices" which need calibration & are listed
in the calibration schedule.
b. Other devices are treated as indicative one & do not need calibration.
c. If the device is new, the calibration certificate is checked and compared with specification as well as
actual working of the equipment for acceptance and the records are updated, then it is used.
d. For old devices, the calibration schedule and calibration certificate are checked, compared with
calibration specifications and also the physical condition of the equipment is checked.
e. The devices are calibrated within the equipment range & operation range. For external calibrations,
traceability certificate for master list is received along with Calibration certificate.
f. External Calibration is carried out once in a year or found out of calibration and shall be traceable to
the National or International Standards.
g. If equipment is found in damaged condition, whether it is possible to repair.
a. If yes, vendor service is utilized for calibration/repair.
b. If not, "Rejected" sticker is applied and removed from use.
h. If there is malfunctioning of the device, the equipment is calibrated. The test results are revalidated
since last in house calibration. Similarly the product since last calibration is isolated, identified &
treated as NCP
i. In house calibration is done for equipments like weighing scale and digital refractometer, and
mechanical balances as per the defined frequency, Record of calibration is maintained.

c. Digital Brix Scale Calibration Record (Doc.No.VMC/ KB/QC/F-24)
