METHOD STATEMENT

CALIBRATION OF CONDUCTIVITY METERS

Obje ctive

The objective of this method statement is to provide general guidelines for calibrating
Conductivity at customer’s premises.

Scope

Scope of this method statement covers the following topics.

 Preparation
 Calibration
 Acceptance criteria
 Calibration Certificate information

Reference Procedure

 Phoenix Calibration Technical Manual- PCTM MS01-2021.

Master Equipment

 Conductivity Standard Solutions 84 & 1413 µS.

Preparation prior to calibration

 Reach the calibration location accompanied by the site engineer or In-charge.

 Get the Instrument location details from site engineer / In-charge.

 Check the environment suitability to execute the calibration process.

 Prepare for calibration

Calibration

1. Carefully remove the Conductivity sensor from the location.

2. Check the sensor physical condition and make sure it is free from
defects.
3. Clean the sensor by using appropriate mean.
4. Note down the sensor and meter details like make, model, serial no.,
location, ID No., etc. on the relevant worksheet.
5. Prepare the standard solutions as required.
6. Immerse the sensor (DUC) to be calibrated in to the standard solutions.
7. Wait until the meter readings are stabilized.
8. Note down the reference and DUC readings on relevant worksheet.
9. Compare the meter readings with acceptable limits as specified in the
user manual or set by the customer.
10. If the meter readings are found out of acceptable tolerance, follow the
adjustment procedure as per user manual instructions.
11. Upon completion of adjustment procedure, Repeat the steps 5 to 9.
12. Complete the calibration worksheet and paste the calibration
identification sticker on the appropriate part of the meter.
13. Fix the sensor on its location with accompanied by the site engineer / In-
charge.
