Application of combined inorganic fertilizer and Chicken manure on the production of Eggplant

(Solanum melongena L.)

INTRODUCTION

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) may be a prevalent vegetable trim that

has a place to the Solanaceae family. It is broadly developed in numerous
nations due to its dietary esteem, culinary employments, and financial
significance (Hossain et al., 2021). In any case, the efficiency of eggplant is
frequently constrained by different variables, such as soil supplement
insufficiency, bother and illness assaults, and antagonistic natural
conditions (Sultana et al., 2019). To overcome these impediments,
agriculturists regularly utilize inorganic fertilizers or natural fertilizers such
as chicken excrement to upgrade the development and abdicate of eggplant.

Inorganic fertilizers are commonly utilized by agriculturists to supply

fundamental supplements to the plants. In any case, over the top utilize of
inorganic fertilizers can lead to natural contamination and soil debasement
(Liu et al., 2020). On the other hand, natural fertilizers such as chicken
fertilizer can make strides soil ripeness and improve plant growth and
abdicate (Li et al., 2021). Additionally, chicken fertilizer may be a cost-
effective and effortlessly accessible source of natural fertilizer for
agriculturists (Gao et al., 2021). In any case, the utilize of natural
excrements alone may not give adequate supplements for the plants, and
consequently, the combined utilize of inorganic fertilizers and natural
excrements can be a potential procedure to upgrade the efficiency of
eggplant. A few considers have reported the beneficial impacts of the
combined utilize of inorganic fertilizers and natural fertilizers on the
development and abdicate of different crops (Ma et al., 2020; Yan et al.,
2021). Be that as it may, there's constrained data on the application of
combined inorganic fertilizer and chicken excrement on eggplant generation.
Subsequently, this study pointed to assess the impacts of the combined
application of inorganic fertilizer and chicken fertilizer on the development
and abdicate .

TERMS DEFINITION

For the purposes of this research, the following terms are operationally
defined.

The act of applying something to or spreading something over a surface.

Fertilizer- containing both synthetic and mineral components, such as

nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, is known as a combined inorganic
fertilizer.

Chicken manure - is a type of organic fertilizer that is rich in nitrogen,

phosphorus, and potassium and is made from chicken droppings and
bedding material.

Production - The act or process of making or creating something, in this

case eggplant growth and yield.

Eggplant- (Solanum melongena L.) - A type of nightshade fruiting plant that

is commonly used as a vegetable in cooking. Yield - The amount of crops or
produce harvested from a specific area or plant, usually in
kilograms.Organic Fertilizer - A type of fertilizer made from natural
materials, such as animal manure, compost, or bone meal, which enriches
soil with nutrients and improves soil structure.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The study on the application of combined inorganic fertilizer and chicken

manure on the production of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is conducted
to investigate the effect of different combinations of inorganic fertilizer and
chicken manure on the growth and yield of eggplant.Eggplant is an
important vegetable crop that is widely cultivated in many countries,
including the Philippines. It is a rich source of nutrients and is used in
many culinary dishes. However, the yield of eggplant is often low due to the
poor soil fertility in many eggplant-growing areas. To increase the
productivity of eggplant, farmers often use inorganic fertilizers. However,
excessive use of inorganic fertilizers can lead to soil degradation, water
pollution, and other environmental problems. Therefore, the use of organic
fertilizers such as chicken manure is becoming popular as an alternative to
inorganic fertilizers. Chicken manure is a good source of organic matter,
nitrogen, phosphorus, and other micronutrients, and can improve soil
fertility and structure. The study aims to determine the optimal combination
of inorganic fertilizer and chicken manure that can maximize the yield of
eggplant while minimizing the negative impact on the environment. The
findings of the study can provide practical recommendations to farmers on
the appropriate use of fertilizers to increase eggplant production
sustainably.

THE USE OF INORGANIC FERTILIZER IN AGRICULTURE PRODUCTION

Inorganic fertilizers are synthetic substances that are added to the soil to enhance
plant growth and productivity. They typically contain a combination of essential
nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, as well as trace minerals
that are essential for plant growth. The use of inorganic fertilizers in agriculture
production has increased significantly over the past century, largely due to the
increasing demand for food and the need to improve crop yields. Inorganic
fertilizers are generally less expensive and easier to apply than organic fertilizers,
and they provide plants with a readily available source of nutrients. However, the
overuse and misuse of inorganic fertilizers can have negative environmental
impacts, such as pollution of waterways and soil degradation. The excess use of
nitrogen fertilizers, for example, can lead to the leaching of nitrates into
groundwater, which can contaminate drinking water supplies and cause health
problems for humans and animals. Moreover, inorganic fertilizers do not provide
other important benefits that organic fertilizers offer, such as improving soil
structure and providing a food source for beneficial soil organisms. Over-reliance
on inorganic fertilizers can also lead to a decline in soil health, as the soil becomes
depleted of organic matter and other essential nutrients. In summary, the
use of inorganic fertilizers in agriculture production can be a useful tool for

enhancing crop yields, but it must be managed carefully to avoid negative

environmental impacts and to ensure the long-term sustainability of
agricultural production.

THE EFFECT OF INORGANIC FERTILIZER

Inorganic fertilizers can have both positive and negative effects on plants,
soil, and the environment.

Positive effects:

Enhanced plant growth: Inorganic fertilizers are designed to provide plants

with essential nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium,
which are necessary for healthy growth and development. The use of
inorganic fertilizers can therefore increase crop yields and improve the
quality of agricultural products.

Improved soil fertility: Inorganic fertilizers can also help to improve soil
fertility by increasing the levels of essential nutrients in the soil. This can
help to maintain soil productivity and support sustainable agricultural
production.

Negative effects:

Environmental pollution: The overuse and misuse of inorganic fertilizers can

lead to environmental pollution, as excess nutrients can be washed into
nearby waterways or leach into groundwater, causing eutrophication and
harmful algal blooms. Inorganic fertilizers can also contribute to air
pollution by releasing greenhouse gases, such as nitrous oxide, during their
production and use.

Soil degradation: Overuse of inorganic fertilizers can also lead to soil

degradation, as they can decrease soil organic matter and microorganism
activity. This can lead to reduced soil fertility, decreased water-holding
capacity, and increased soil erosion.

Health risks: Inorganic fertilizers can pose health risks to humans and
animals if they are not applied properly. For example, exposure to certain
types of inorganic fertilizers can cause skin irritation, respiratory problems,
or gastrointestinal distress.
